So I have noticed a few stories that get published with just the Intro chapter and then left for days on end with out anything else. Which has got me wondering about the mimimum number of chapters that you should have before you publish a story. I'm not talking about this as anything that should be enforced as a site rule and more of just something I am curious about. Personally I try to have a couple of chapters ready to go when I publish. Although sometimes they have been a few "Starter"chapters for threads. So what do you guys and gals think?
It would be a good idea considering that there are currently 1049 stories, give or take, with only one thread to them out of 9,330 stories on the site. That is roughly 11%
Yeah, I've noticed this. It's a bit baffling to me. There are quite a few of them and some of them are really short, just a quick premise. All I can think is that they are starting a particular type of story that they want to read about but don't actually want to write, hoping someone will step in and write it for them. Just a guess though.
While I am not opposed one direction one way or another. Set the limit to a higher number may prevent spam stories a little more. Maybe if some creates a single intro story they have x-amount of time to add chapters or be deleted. Or just maybe since it is ~11% as RicoLouis states above leave alone. Yes it is a large number, but nothing compared to other stories that are on the site that sit idle for months and years on end without anyone touching them.
At 11% I don't think its a hugely pressing issue. Although I would find it hard to argue if there is like a 1 year window for that chapter to be added onto before a deletion just the keep things cleaned up.
Every now and then you find stories like this one. I laughed, I cried, I came. https://chyoa.com/story/Classmates.12762
I have always assumed that there is actually someone looking at the stories before they go up. Now I realise that they are just rubber stamping everything.
Sorry I get the... Sorry, I got distracted... Which page were you looking for? https://chyoa.com/story/Classmates.12762
I usually try to have a couple chapters ready to go, and I try to follow up quickly while it's got the New Story hot spot. Personally I don't publish anything without a few good ideas that I go to expand on... thought I did have one trip-up where I got involved elsewhere and depended on other authors/the community (noob mistake). Even there I had a couple chapters. I have No Idea what goes through the heads of other authors when they do publish something that has such little substance that there's barely even an inkling for other authors to expand on, if that is indeed their goal.
It was quite the epic. I'll try to sum it up: "The" I had to admit, the author certainly had a way with word.
I have to assume this was someone either trying to get rid of a story or someone else getting into an account and fucking it over. I would hope for the former.
Perhaps it was the author doing a test and didn't realize that they had posted the story. 2 years old who knows what happened back in those old days.
