That is a good point, and not one I'd considered. I'd probably make it more than 5. I was thinking like 10 or 20 chapter stories.
Here's a new suggestion, related to the above: to get the trophy, you need to have added at least 11 chapters, and the story must have at least 20 chapters total: with 51% or more of the total chapters being ones you wrote. This allows people who adopted those abandoned 1 chapter stories to still earn the trophy, but not hand them out like candy...
I think trophy calculation shouldn't be too complicated because the server has to check if the user is eligible to get a new one every few hours.
This is an older thread but I want to drop in out of the blue to insert my 2 cents. I would recommend asking when talking about gamification elements in products What are we trying to reward users for and why? What do we want them to do more of? Are we trying to force users to do things they don't want to, or rewarding them for things they do? Is there a larger progression system these smaller rewards play into? I support more awards, I think they are dumb and fun, but I think they could be useful for more.
I would also like to point out that even though I am now in the top author's section and this might bump me out of it if implemented: I STILL support more awards being added.
And I'm gonna bring this up AGAIN: because I have now reached the point where I can't climb any higher until there are more awards... (Especially that "Feild Promotion" one...) "I've reached the top, and had to stop, and that's what's bothering me..."
This has been dormant for a while... and the invisible branches suggestion being implemented made me think of one. How about: 1) One for being active on the forums. Perhaps in certain boards such as authors hangout or site feedback only. I'm not sure about a name for it though. 2) "Backseat driver" Have a site suggestion implemented
I've got suggestions for those two's names and some additional ideas about them: Author's Hangout: 1A: Title: "Seeking Help" Action: Post a new thread in Author's Hangout. Style Blurb: "You sought help when you needed it, good job!" 1B: Title: "Helpful Hints" Action: Reply to another author's thread in Author's Hangout and receive a like on your post. Style Blurb: "You're helping your fellow Authors, way to go!" Site Feedback 2A: Title: "Slap A Mosquito" Action: Report a bug that is successfully solved in "Post Bug Reports Here" under Site Feedback. Style Blurb: "A bug bit you: you squashed it!" 2B: Title: "Fly Swatter" Action: Report 5 bugs that are successfully solved in "Post Bug Reports Here" under Site Feedback. Style Blurb: "..."My Generation's, Gonna Put It Right!"-(Can someone help me cite this song and its original creators?)"
Meh, like most people I only heard about it in the amazing DISTURBED cover from Ten Thousand Fists, but credit should be given where credit is truly due: eg, the original lyricist.
