"Erotic Literature" on the internet, written as a hobby, isn't exactly mainstream. Then it fractures into specific fetishes, and is also spread out onto different websites. Chyoa's approach of choose your own adventure is yet again another specific subset of these stories. So all in all it probably isn't exactly a surprise that many stories and fetishes here don't find a wide audience. Still, i believe it is possible to find an audience for many fetishes, but it takes dedication and time. You need to stick to your story and update it regulary over a longer period of time, not only to keep readers interested, but to find new ones as well. To have the privilege to eventually find one or more people that add to a story certainly helps in that regard, but imho isn't exactly something you can influence. I don't know, if my own surfing behaviour is in any way representative, but here it is: When i first found thus website, i used the search function a lot to find stories about themes and fetishes that i am interested in. So tagging the stories, have good descriptions and introductions, as well as having a lot of content of course, helped to find stories and to get me interested. After some time i was confident that i had found all the stories that met my criteria. So nowadays i no longer use the search function (or very, very rarely). Instead, all i do is to check the main page from time to time, specifically the recently updated stories, and the new stories sections. So stories, which i don't see on the front page, and who i haven't bookmarked or put into my favorites in the past, may as well not exist. As an author, i haven't written a lot these path months. I started two projects of game mode stories, that i believe could be awsome, if i could just find the time, dedication and motivation to work on them. Obviously it us impossible to get an audience if i don't publish my work ;-) In the meantime, i added a few chapters to some stories here and there, that didn't get a lot of feedback (likes) either. So i understand how it can feel as if you mostly write for yourself. However, assuming that other readers behave like i do, i totally understand why those additions didn't receive a lot of attention. What do i want to say with my thoughts and ramblings? I do believe that as an author you need to find the motivation within yourself to write something. Don't depend on any audience, feedback, or the lack thereof. Have fun and enjoy writing, just for the sake of creating a story, of putting your fantasies into words, regardless of other people who might or might not enjoy it. And if you can find so much motivation within yourself, that you create, or help to create a story, and to stick to it over a longer period of time, where you flesh it out with a lot of content, i do believe that the story will naturally find it's audience.
I literally just put something almost identical to this sentiment on another topic here. lol Great minds think alike I guess, or is it fools seldom differ?
