First Contact is never an easy thing. Wars have been started over the offenses that one race perceives, and another simply doesn't understand, while others are forced do to an imperialistic society that the other doesn't emulate. First contact is hell. Project Empathy, a love child between idealistic aliens, and corporate investors seeking to corner a market, was established in order to spread the influence, and establish first contact with unknown species. The small crew was given a simple task. To meet new species, establish first contact with them, and ultimately, establish new trade routes. That's the theory, anyway. Now, lets just see if they can keep their hands off eachother.... ************************* Due to the Sci Fi Knife in the Void kinda going kaput, I decided to just say screw it, and start a new one. Systems are are linked https://chyoa.com/story/Stories-of-Horizon.10162 Due to the nature of your group's primary mission, this will be classified as a 'military campaign', although not by military personel. Mission Success will ultimately be based on the three following. 1. Meeting a new race 2. Determining if the new race is a threat 3. If not a threat, establish Diplomatic and trade routes. If conflict happens, you defend yourself, If not, well, you are free to use any means. *cough* ANY *cough, nudge, wink* means.
Here is a character I made for the system a while back. Hopefully her sheet is still in line with the system. She is a doctor and good at social interactions. https://docs.google.com/document/d/14tGDRfGs_Zr1GhMOkeR5O-Bu7J4ZB0bPDt-joFFjkR4/edit?usp=sharing
After going through the information on it. I will be focusing on The Box RPG at this time. Looking for a more grounded RPG in the future.
Bump. If I can't get anyone else, i'll try another Horizon type game, thinking the Iron Curtain (which is pretty new to the Horizonverse)
So, when Earth was pretty much taken out, it wasn't the first attempt at space colonization. That would be Mars. And as far as Mars was concerned, Earth went to war, all communications went dark, and suddenly they were without any supply lines from earth. At this time, the military of the planet took over, instilled absolute order. This would be the Sol Empire, or sometimes called the Iron or Steel Curtain, since they don't let anyone inside the border. Sol Empire When humanity first left earth, they had assumed that the martian colonies would have been obliterated without contact or supplies with Earth. To them, Mars would be a beacon where they would restart their lives. What they found, however, is in the time communication with Mars was lost, that it had thrived. Rather than welcome the Ark, guns were instead trained upon it, and Humanity was splintered. The Sol empire is what amounts to the colony world of Mars rebuilding, and becoming a military force in the galaxy. Having fortified the Sol system, the Sol Empire does not consort with the Alliance. In fact, the Sol Empire finds those who joined the Alliance as weak and worthy of contempt. To throw away human values, after destroying Earth no less, is considered an affront to them. Heavy isolationists, the Sol Empire speaks English and Chinese, but never bothered learning the standardized human language of Romani Confusci, nor do they welcome or want alien contact. The Sol Empire has avoided major conflicts, but has had skirmishes with the Alliance on many different occations. Even the Aravi have extremely limited contact with them, and usually only allowed for limited trade in the furthest outposts in Sol Space. Formed as a Military Regime, when contact with Earth was lost, Mars went into a state of martial law, which has never dropped. Freedoms are limited, and order is paramount. For Androids, a life as a tool and disposable work is all that greets them, while a citizen can expect limited freedoms of speech. While elections are held for lower seats of power, the highest order is ultimately held by a series of high ranking military officials. While this has proven effective, a great many secretly escape the regime to find a less strict form of life. Races: Human, Androids Military: Sol military is manditory for all citizens for 6 years of service, and has adopted a turtle strategy. Heavily armored drone ships, capital ships, with crusers thrown in, the common consensus is large and lumbering dreadnaughts to act as a deterrant. Due to its smaller population compared to most powerful factions, Sol relies heavily on mechanization and disposable drone and android troops. Powerful Combat walkers make up planetside defenses, and heavy fortifications are laid on every planet that has been terraformed. While every citizen is expected to serve, most of it is use of drone or automated combat. Troops are trained to fight, but the basics of Sol strategy is to simply have the bigger guns pointed at the sky. The primary force of military men and women is akin to Engineers, who work to service the large weapons, while heavily armed and armored androids do any major ground fighting. Chain of command is similar to Alliance, with conscripts on the lower end, while career and educated individuals serve as the upper command structure. However, due to the fact that the Sol Empire is a Military Dictatorship, the upper command's ruling is law. Martian Weapons are generally big, mechanized, and massive. Mechanization and massive ships are the backbone. Unlike their Alliance counterparts, the Sol Empire never banned Fusion Weaponry, just placing strict use on them off colony worlds. As such, ships carry fusion batteries, while ground troops carry standard solid munitions. Commerce: Trading is extremely limited to Aravi, and only on outlying outposts. Alien traffic is outright banned, and alien ships can be expected to be shot down or escorted out of the system. Instead, the Sol Empire relies heavily on terraformed planets that are designated for a specific task. For example, Mars is considered the Leadership planet. Venus is engineering, the Asteroid belt for minerals, the moons of Jupiter for aggricultural purposes, and so on. Each planet is a cog in the whole, and outside interferences are just monkey wrenches thrown in. Homeworld: Mars The red planet is a far cry from the meteor covered wasteland. While still covered in red dirt, terraforming has turned the skies a distinct blue, while an artificial atmosphere keeps meteors from striking the many population centers. While Earth remains their birthplace, Mars is ultimately the capital of the Sol Empire, and the most heavily fortified world within Sol space. The problem with this campaign is that it only allows Humans and Androids, with the general campaign being security and keeping aliens out.
Character for Lust in Space: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hk5AbAAb6mzf59essBF_bFAIa-QXgKGpNX0qTMbHscs/edit?usp=sharing covert psionic siege weapon is go
No, sadly. I heard there was plans to work on a specific kind of Android that could thanks to race that built them, but there are no Psionic Android.
Alright... If I start the game multiclassed (by taking an Android upgrade), how does IQ and physical force calculation work? Do I roll IQ dice for both classes, or the superior one, or the one I start with? Do I get a +5 to Physical Force if I take a martial class?
Oh yeah, I have to personally apologize for that one. I tended to abuse the hell out of that, so it got nerfed. I should change that in the documents so it can be notified. You can no longer use the Android multiclass upgrade at character creation. It's too easy to take and simple be a powerhouse in early game. So no, you can't have the multiclass at creation.
Pretty much, yeah. Gave no real growth to androids. They just came in, and had everything they needed without needing to level up.
