I'd suggest that if a story isn't of interest to a reader, but they're aware others might like the topic etc that they probably should refrain from voting on that point alone.

I'm thinking 1 is appalling, 3 acceptable, 5 perfect. This pretty much agrees with your list.
My interpretation of these would perhaps be:
    1) Utter crap: Badly written story, very bad grammar. (Never just because you don't like the topic or events)
    2) Below Par: Storyline is generally okay, but some work is required to make the story readable.
    3) Average: Nothing great about it, but no major issues.
    4) Good: Plot or general style is above average. Perhaps a few minor errors or typo's
    5) Perfect: The story is interesting, the writing well thought out. There are no plot/consistency errors, and no grammar/spelling errors.

As such a 3 is fine, a 4 would be pretty good, and I'd almost never give out 5's.

Is there some way of tagging status. For example, if Rot flirts with his mother, I'd like to be able to expose a story line that lets him follow up. If, instead, he ignores her, I'd like to expose another story link. This would allow me to avoid huge cut and paste efforts. If not, this would be an invaluable feature. It would make the stories more interactive and allow more cycling back and trying new things (e.g., Rot doesn't flirt with his mother on day one but gets another chance on day two... either of these flirts can lead to action on day 3. Or, Rot can permanently destroy his chances of sex with his sister but continue the story and have sex with others... without there having to be an 'end' when he misjudges his sister.

There is a way to link a thread to another existing story thread described here.

A more complex way of controlling the possible decisions of the characters were discussed here.
Maybe this feature will be available in the future.

I don't think basic thread linking will help Robyna.
It does sound like they're after conditional stories like you linked. Hopefully this is a feature in Chyoa 2.

Can we have in the story tree some type of indication that a thread is a link, much like how in the original CHYOO linked threads were bold in the story tree. This would make it easier to know which thread to ignore because it's linked already or continue on.

Could also imagine a small arrow or sth. similar to a footnote-number.

    1) I wish there was some way to select multiple categories for labeling a story. For example, my "Bound by the Amazons" has Sci-Fi & Fantasy (though it is more historical fantasy), BDSM, Erotic Coupling and Non-Consent themes. After switching back and forth several times I settled on "Sci-Fi & Fantasy," for that is a constant theme, though I am still not happy with the choice.

    2) I would love to get some sort of notification when a comment is posted to one of my threads. I admit it, I am a comment whore.

    3) My biggest suggestion, and I think the easiest to implement, would be to have a new selection of questions on the writer's profile page entitled "interests." This would include such questions as "favorite kinks/categories," "disliked kinks/categories," and others that would help chyoaians find writers of similar interests and like minds.

Without notifications comments seem almost worthless, as unless the author goes back specifically searching for them they'll never see them.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. It could be something as simple as a cookie with a few words of binary to reflect an array of options excluded. Then the links relating to those options would be either exposed or hidden based on previous user choice. I think that would really help replay value.

Thanks. I have been able to manage the basic linking so I can have story lines that go different directions and reconverge later (e.g., different activities before class converging on class. Of course, there is the issue of the protagonist having learned different things, meeting different characters etc. in between. Still, the linking, as it is, makes a huge difference.

I second on a Link indicator, expanded author questions/data, comment notification (every time I go to Chyoa, I check the comment link), and multiple categories for stories.

Can we have a option to share private stories?
Can we have seamless integration from the site to the forums so I don't have to log in twice?
Can we have a story map that allows us to move sections around and link them together?

The story mode "private" means, that no other writer can add to a story. A private story is visible to everyone.

Maybe there will be some new story modes in the future.

There is also a discussion about having a working space to prepare stories or story parts.

It'd be really nice to have notifications for comments on your threads. While I might not have any problems searching for the comments at this moment, it'd certainly more convenient for me to get feedback through notifications once I get around to writing as much as I'm hoping to write.

You can access an overview of your comments from the page "manage stories". On the right side there is the link "Feedback", where all comments you got are listed.

Unfortunately it only shows the comments on threads you have written and doesn't show comments on threads of your story, which are written by others. Also you can't see, if someone answered to a comment of you, if it isn't your thread. Probably there will be more possibilities in the next version (like subscribing to comments or subscribing to answers on your comments).

    Hi Freidman,
I was just looking at my thread management page and saw that it lists views per thread. While it's nice to see there, it'd be really nice if that information was also able to be shown (at least for authors) on the story map pages. It'd really help to see what threads people were preferring.

Maybe a way to add thread option that just includes the title of the thread as a suggestion of where to go with the story, but then another writer could come along and pick that thread and just add the text body, similar to writing.com, but without the limited options and with the ability to create your own.

    Could help users contribute more.
