1. 95% of everything is crap. That includes 95% of the stories on this site. 2. Sometimes readers want to do more than just hit the like button on a story. We all have those stories that are really well writen, but only have a few chapters for you to like. 3. Once a story is completed (arguably the best time to read it), it is very easy for it to get burried. What I am proposing is users being able to display a list of their favorite stories. They would still have the current list of private favorites but could show some of them off if wanted. With this feature. I could find a user with similare tastes and see the stories they thought were the best. Or I could furthor show of some of the amazing yet under appreciated stories on this site.
A list of things I'd like to see in a future redesign: 1.A more legible and navigable story map. 2. A Dislike button(poorly written, actualized, or w/e story), And a Yuck! button(for fetish porn you didn't want or w/e if you push it, it will give you the option of which of the tags you found undesirable so the author knows what his audience likes/doesn't.) The Yuck! wouldn't have any effect other than removing it from front page vanilla catagory offerings.(It'd stay in the hardcore sorting groups, no penalty.) 3. A whole new front page that spotlights genres better, kink levels, etc Could expand backer support this way too. 4. A built-in translation feature. Our german and french friends are working hard, and I'd like to be able read it.
You're in the right sub-forum, but I think these suggestions would do better with their own threads. That way people can like the ones they want and let the mods know what features interest them.
100% back this. I'm strongly opposed to No. 2. Having a dislike button allows for trolling or for people to just be negative without being constructive. I can think of at least two comments I've gotten on CHOYA that have helped me fix small errors I've made. With a dislike button, those comments may have never happened and those errors would still be in my story. The Yuck! button could lead to trolling of authors writing more niche stuff. I've found 90% of chapters/stories that lead to fetishes are pretty well labelled, and if a chapter isn't something I don't enjoy, it's easy to leave. Again, if there's an issue with a chapter, I think it's best to comment and be constructive.
We used to have a dislike button but it was removed because it was too easy to abuse. I’m glad it’s gone.
There won't be many stories where you could say they are completed. That kind of conflicts with the possibilities of the format. There are browsers which can translate the website. I don't see the need to create something which might be average when there is something out there which is good.
Completed may not be the best term. I know its not the norm, but there are good stories where the owner has more or less finished the story arc(s). Its very easy for these stories to fade into obscurity. Yes, it is possible for someone else to come along and add to the story, but most of the stories on this site are written by one writer.
