So after the success my strange future story. I have an idea for another alternate reality based story. This one focuses on a girl on her eighteenth birthday, however in this universe there is a certain behavior expected of adult women, and perhaps a ritual to go with it. Here are a few suggested branches so you could see how this works. 1) Nudity: On her eighteenth birthday all her clothes are destroyed in a ceremony. After this, she is expected to never wear clothes again. 2) Freeuse: On her eighteenth birthday she is fucked in a ceremony, then expected to never refuse a man's sexual advances (without good reason). 3) (perhaps my favorite) She ritualistically pees outside the toilet, and is expected from that point onward to never pee in the toilet again (the question of where she is supposed to pee can start a lot of branches). Perhaps I could combine these elements and more in a single story.
If the female is born in that alternate reality, there isn't anything special about any of these things. I mean, she would rather be happy to finally get rid of her clothes to show the world that she is now a real woman... But nobody would care about it as it is just normal. (The same with the other two options.) That doesn't sound quite appealing. So maybe if the protagonist(s) just entered that alternate reality and have to conform to the unknown society.
Gene.sis makes a good point. I would suggest that you make the becoming a woman ritual just one of other possible options. In the movie Divergent, people hitting 18 had to take these crazy personality tests which determined whether they were a soldier, farmer, scientist, etc. Perhaps at 18 she does the same, only one of the options is to become freeuse or whichever you choose to go with. So it still something she is aware of but not necessarily a guaranteed outcome.
I must say the idea of a kind of adult sorting hat has a lot of potential. Espcially if the results of the test are not what the subject was expecting
"Find the job which fits you best" sounds interesting. Maybe some of the jobs would be kind of "new" which would make it quite shocking for everyone, though some of them would quickly get used to the idea. Your new job: "Professional Satisfier"
I don't really see why the ritual being accepted by society makes it less appealing at all, but I do like the sorting hat idea.
When you're a man of a tribe where everyone is topless, you see female breasts all day long, thus you won't ask a woman to show them as it is just normal for you to see them uncovered every day. And there is no embarrassment for the woman to show them as they are on display every day. It's not hot at all, just a normal thing on a normal day.
Actually, such customs only occur in the hottest regions of the world, so your statement is somewhat inaccurate.

exactly. Then you describe it wrong. Free use can be done in different ways as well. If the protagonist just learns about the new situation, it is the mentioned change which creates the thrill.

Indeed... I think there is also a relation to the POV. If you use 1st or 2nd person POV, it would be influenced by the protagonist's mindset who would see these things as normal, thus they most likely won't even bother watching. Then, any description about it being perverted, dirty or raunchy would be wrong. On the other hand, in 3rd person narrations, the reader takes the place of an outside observer. Then, the author can describe it as dirty, though the story characters still wouldn't mind it and see it as normal. (Though that is similar to the change as the reader would kind of take a look into another universe. For the inhabitants of that universe, there is a shift of what is perverted, dirty, and raunchy.)
The problem I have, in general, with Free Use and other similar concepts(the purge movies, for example) isn't the fetish(which I think is hot as fuck if done well) it's the fact that in most of the stories I've read it either just, happens out of nowhere, or it's existed forever but NONE of the woman are cognisant or prepared for some trucker to stick em in the pooper while they walk their dog. Girls get up, get dressed, take their kids to school and get dragged off to be meat-toilettef by the seniors. It's like a total shock, that this thing that's been a law for ages is happening to them. Nobody saw her ass and went, "Yeah, I'll have me some of that since it's free." before that second? Highly implausible. There's rarely any justification for the free use, there's rarely any exposition explaining it, all the guys instantly become douchebags, all the woman become damsels and it just degenerates into a conga line of BDSM orgies. Who's the president? How does he explain a 100% productivity loss because the whole country is balls deep in each other? This is something I may explore with a story myself. Because I think the dynamics it can create for both woman and men could be interesting in a fantasy, or post-apocalyptic setting. But in it's current form it's just comedy and that's a boner killer for me. And please nobody take this personal, it's not directed at anybody, it's a common theme across about 3-4 stories I've seen. I'm critiquing a trope.
