Simple enough question, I'm just curious as to how everyone here found this place, why they stuck around, why they started looking, etc. For me it wasn't the first hit on the search engines, and despite lurking sites like this for quite a while I had never heard heard of this one before. I stuck around because I loved the interface and thought I grooved pretty well with the authors and content. What brought me here was maybe a year and a half ago when writing.com did a huge purge of some great interactive erotic stories. I had just started contributing to a few of them, and decided I'd find a dedicated site rather than cross my fingers and hope that my content wouldn't be deleted again. It really was a shame because a few of the stories really were very good regardless of their sexual overtones. Oddly enough, the shit teir fan fic erotica featuring MLP, and Sanic remains on that site *shudder*...
I found CHYOO through the Literotica stories section. From there, I got interested in the Literotica forum board and when we eventually moved here, I was more than happy to be among those to make the exodus. I guess by now I could just be considered a veteran from the old site. What drew me to CHYOO was how bored I got with the normal erotica on Literotica. There are some great stories there, but you read them once and then they are only good for one or two more readings after that. CHYOO offered stories that could have different paths and endings. The twists and turns made the rabbit hole more fulfilling to follow. After about a year of lurking on the site, I joined up just so I could start saving stories and not have to search for them every time. Then I started desiring to try my own hand at it. The rest is history.
How would you categorize the still lingering CHYOO forum on the literotica board, Advertisement or a reader talking about the place? Just Want to Know How I should Vote...
Found out about Chyoo from Usenet, when I was investigating adult interactive fiction (text adventures).
About seven years ago I found CHYOO when I was googling for "farmer's daughter" erotica stories and I discovered Farmer's Daughter. I've contributed a lot to that story and branched out to my own stuff.
Oh dear, it was ages ago, I think around 2005. I was trying to find decent erotica stories, and I did like Literotica too, but I wanted a more immersive experience. Literotica did have a limited interactive fiction section, but then the forums linked me to CHYOO, and I've been coming back to it ever since. With the new site and its stability and responsive management under the redoubtable Friedman, I felt like I could go from lurking to contributing for the first time, and here we are!
Sorry about that, I really had no idea about the origin of this community, so I didn't know what to put up there. I've updated the poll.
I've written stories half of my life without releasing anything. Researching on wording I found a story on old chyoo and read it. The same happened some times over a period of about 3 years, before I decided to release own content.
I think it was an author sharing their work on another site - a link to an Emma Watson story. I am not sure I was that impressed with that story (apologies to whoever wrote it) but after reading others I was hooked and I thought I can do that. I've had several failed attempts at sex games but I found the narrative part of it fairly easy, even if wasn't sure about writing sex scenes.
I found Literotica when I was looking for a place to publish my erotica short stories. That lead me to CHYOO through one of the links. When CHYOA was created, I saw an announcement in the Literotica/CHYOO forums. I was ecstatic, since there had been many years of neglect from absentee owners on CHYOO.
Been a writer/member of Lit for, well lets just say a long time. I was reading the Author's Hangout on Lit and someone mentioned this site here. When I checked it I liked it's plainness, if you will. Not a lot to distract readers or writers, other then the actual work and that's a good thing. One question - are tags added by the writer and if so how?
Tags are added by the writer. When you are adding or editing a thread, right below the follow-up question, there's s field for tags. But the "Add a tag" text is easy to miss due to its color.
Just a little note about adding: You have to press Enter after every tag to get it registered. Then it will turn blue. This way, tags can also be longer than just one word.
Thanks for the help Moon and Trugbild. Yeah I feel dumb it was grayed out like you said and when I clicked on it didn't see my cursor blinking. Just a note to Trubild and anyone else adding tags. I'm sure everyone knows but to add multiple tags at once and/or multiple word tags I just separated them with a comma then hit enter. But really thanx again.
I'm one of the old timers who came through Literotica. Anyone know the story behind the association between the two sites? I vaguely remember it being run through Lit then became neglected before being picked up and moved over to CHYOA.
