Hellfire Story

I've been thinking about this story for a while.

3 sisters have been brought up in isolation by their wealthy father in late 18th century England. As he is clueless about how to cope with children he has always disciplined them by spanking and one or two of them grown to like it. At the start of our story the eldest girl has married a man who is rather bereft of morals whereas the 2 younger twin sisters, now 18, remain with their father. Although they are identical they have very different personalities: one is a romantic and yearns for adventure, the other is obsessed with Gothic novels which leads to intense dreams.

Needless to say different paths await them but you can be sure they well eventually find their way to one of London's most notorious gentlemen's clubs.

One sticking point was finding any evidence of how 18th century fathers might discipline their daughters. In the late 19th century there was a possibility of being caned, but that was 100 years too late. So the idea of a clueless father entered my head. I have ideas for him as well as he needs to chase after at least one of them to rescue her.

My inspirations are Jane Austen's "Northanger Abbey", Maquis de Sade's novels (just to stress there will be absolutely no mutilation in this story), the legend of the Hellfire clubs, Anne Bronte's "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" and an article I once read in a turn of the century (19th-20th) newspaper.

Perhaps having put it out there might encourage me to get on with it.

This could be an interesting read. If you get it going, I'll be among your readers.

It might be a while, as to maximise readership I shall write as much of the main storyline as possible before releasing a chapter each day. I am still planning the outline now.

I have written the outline now but I can imagine like my other stories (except the Dr Who one) it will be difficult for others to contribute. Like a lot of secret institutions, the activities of the Hellfire Club(s) are not clear and open to speculation. In one respect the club itself to most of its members seems little more than a Japanese love hotel in which mistresses or more commonly prostitutes were taken to private rooms perhaps with a little atmosphere. However there is no doubt that some members had an interest in pagan (not Satanic despite the name) worship and maybe a few interesting rituals. Once again, because my story is set a bit after the original club, the driving force is someone who has his own warped interpretation of its ideals, with the emphasis very much on deviant sex.

    Dramatis Personae:

Sir Nathaniel Hawksby - a Yorkshireman with flowing blonde locks in his mid 40s. He was once was a prominent doctor, but after his wife left him, he has become over protective of his daughters maintaining an isolated existence on the moors.

Priscilla Hawksby- the dominant one of a pair of 18 year old dark-haired identical twins. She yearns to explore the world and escape from her father.

Abigail Hawksby - the more timid of the twins. Her dreams and desires are surprisingly dark. She is often punished for the misdeeds of her sister.

Sir Thomas ‘Tom’ Squires - dark haired handsome member of one of the most powerful families in England. He owns a castle like mansion in the North York Moors. His hedonistic desires have led him to create his own world.

Lady Caroline Squires - Sir Nathaniel’s eldest daughter with hair like her father. Originally headstrong but now somewhat cowed in pregnancy by a man she thought she could handle.

Frances ‘Fanny’ Bell - Nathaniel’s sole servant who acts as cook, maid and surrogate elder sister to the twins. She has brown curly hair and a voluptuous body but, despite many admirers, is still unmarried in her mid 20s.

Francis Bell – Fanny’s twin brother who acts as an informal delivery man to the Hawksbys but is never allowed any contact with the daughters. He is short but strong with the same curly hair as his sister.

Hammuda, Bey of Tunis – a ruler on the Barbary Coast of the Ottoman Empire. Of East Mediterranean origin, he rose to the position at a relatively young age and is well travelled. He has a very active sexual life with his many wives and slaves.

Slight problem with the plot. There is a particular part of this story which is giving me a headache. It is not a geographical problem, but more of a can they get away with it one. Not crucial (I could very reluctantly change the plot) but important and I wonder if any individual out there could help me with a solution. I don't want to make a plot twist public, so if anybody would like to volunteer to help, please PM me.

2 1/2 Chapters written with a totally revised start - saw no point in a flashback, might as well keep it chronological. Probably slipping into previous bad habits of of using "We" to mean those following the narrative - I think I've done it twice - and maybe switching focus too much. Still need help with the plot twist though it's near the end of the story.

Chapter 11 - it may change - is set here

    TheLion.jpg

Initially I thought the white was the sea which is about 20 miles away, but now it looks like it's on hills 5 or more likely 10 miles away. Despite its isolation this hostelry has been around for the best part of a millennium.

Over 2 1/2 chapters tonight, just under 2,500 words and 6 orgasms tonight. I can almost see the marriage of Sir Thomas and Caroline, and the end of Part 1.

I have calculated 8 parts and if they are anything like the first part, and Part V is certainly longer, that would be 160 chapters    I am contemplating whether to leave out the Knight's Templar part although that is awfully tempting and perhaps accelerate the North African journey.

Of course I could always bring the KT bit in for the next generation of the family and set it around the time of Trafalgar.

I guess my stories are a bit different to most on this site. That does not make me a better writer but I guess I'm always thinking what if the reader thinks this, can I explain it? Imagination is really easy for me. I once heard the horror writer Clive Barker on the radio explaining how he visualised things and everything flowed, so even though it's not my genre I took on the exercise and really imagined some horrific stuff. Part of the secret is I don't have to like the people or subject matter I am writing about, it's just all story. Secondly I tend to write for myself rather than other people which makes it easier ... despite what I said earlier about thinking about the reader. Most authors write much more than they actually publish - I guess I find it harder than most to edit myself.

Up to the Wedding night so next is actually where I intended the story to start before a picture of a stone inspired me. I am not sure whether to write the wedding night or leave it to others so I think I'll go straight in Part II when the twins who have so far been a background presence start to take the central roles. After that I'll take some time to look at a couple of other projects which I can quickly knock up.

I brought one last week as was about to back up everything - I couldn't have been more unlucky. Have to be careful about visiting this site because I'm borrowing someone's laptop and I don't think they'd be too pleased to find it in the history.
