I just finished writing a long chapter for my thread in The Rulebook. I wrote the page in its entirety, and then linked to a previous chapter in the story (a story hub). This immediately and irrevocably erased my entire page. I really, really don't want to lose the few hours of work that went into writing it. I actually deleted the page it created (the linked one) and then started a new page with the intention of rewriting the entire thing (this one is called "takes out all his anger on her."). Please tell me there's a way to get back what I wrote? I really, really don't want to spend three hours trying to recreate the damn thing. Are there any admins that can help me get back what I had?
If you have the specific browser tab still open, you can try to hit the back button of your browser until you are back on the edit page of the chapter. If that doesn't work, I'm pretty sure that your content is lost.
If you haven't saved the chapter before, the content has never been saved on the server. And even if it has been saved on the server, it has been overwritten when saving the chapter. If the content of the chapter is older, there might be a chance that there is a backup but it sounded like you have just written it recently. You could only ask Friedman, but even if the chapter has been saved as a draft before, chances are low that it can be restored. So if the content isn't still cached in the browser (which ends when closing the tab), I'm afraid it's lost.
I did save the chapter before. I wrote it and saved it, then changed to to add a link. I know now that "link" means "destroy this whole page and replace it with a fake "linked" page." So yeah - that's why I'm asking the admins. Friedman, I guess, is the name?
Yes, a linked chapter is always an empty chapter as it forwards you to another chapter. I think this is mentioned in the guide, though not really intuitive. It would be good to add something to avoid this issue which also happened to other authors in the past. Yes. You can write him a message here or on the site. (There is only one admin. Moderators don't have access to the database.)
This exact thing happened to me! It sucks man... I ended up fully rewriting it, but if there's any way to salvage it I'm curious
Unfortunately, we don't have a copy of the chapter in the backup. For this it would have to be older than 24 hours. I'm sorry!

Hi Friedman, sorry for bringing up the same issue. Please help, was working on a Chapter of my Unpublished story and was trying linking and ended up deleting the whole chapter, was kinda long and lot of work.
