Like usual Vault 21 is quiet early at The Morning. The Airfiltration in Jacks Room works naturally better than in most Sections of The Vault, since he inspects it Daily. Jack gets pulled out of his Sleep in his Room, as The Alarmtone from The Overseers Office rings trough The Complex to wake everyone and get to work once again.
Jack yawned and rose from his bed groggily, stretching his limbs as he got off the bed. Like every morning, he went through his routine of doing some cleaning and having a quick breakfast of whatever he could find leftover in the fridge. Finishing breakfast and looking at the clock, he put on a fresh jumpsuit and grabbed his tool box. Jack went outside his room and went towards his workplace.
Its 8am as Jack leaves his Room. Like usual everyone else still Battles to leave their Beds, so he doesent encounter anyone in The Corridors towards The Engineroom for The Waste disposal. As he opens The Massive Door to The Wastedisposal he sees Amanda sleeping in her Chair by The Table, her feet Resting on The wooden table. Its the third Time Jack busts The Girl sleeping on her Job of surveiling The Machines.
Jack shook his head and chuckled to himself as he caught Amanda sleeping on the job again. Luckily, something seldomly went wrong with the waste treatment during the night, since most people were asleep and the machine wasn’t very taxed. He had a quick look at the machine’s instruments and then leaned against the table next to her feet. He gently nudged Amanda’s knee, ‘Wakey, wakey, Cinderella. Shift’s over.’
Amanda snorts and wakes up sleepily, once again busted to Sleep on Duty. “Oh no....Why is this Happening again? Its the Bad Air in here for Sure. I can only do so much Jack....The Conditions here are brutal“ she rubs her eyes and puts The feet from The Table.
‘Yeah, it’s pretty stuffy in here. Nothing to do but look at some gauges doesn’t help to stay awake either,’ Jack said, smiling at her, ‘If you want a good night’s sleep, you could sleep in my room while I work my shift, I keep the air filtration in there in top shape. Least I could do for that plant you got me last time.’ He looked around the room, ‘Maybe I’ll have time to have a look at the air ducts in here too.’
Amanda waves her Hand. “You would need a damn Second Reactor in That Vault to give this Area here fresh Air....and sleeping in Your Room would make The Overseer flip If he found out im not on my Workingplace....dont wanna Risk to anger him more. I heard The Cells smell like Shit and dont have Lights“ She stretches herself “Argh I gladly got You that Plant. Everyone here needs a Friend“ she chuckles
Jack laughed, ‘Yeah, you don’t wanna end up in detention, nasty place down there. The air in here is like a meadow breeze compared to that place.’ He smiled at Amanda, ‘And I don’t tell anyone that you take naps on the job. We’ve known each other since we were kids, of course we’ll stick together. Maybe I should’ve dropped by my mom in the cafeteria to get you a cuppa joe before coming to work.’ He went over to the gauges and terminal and checked the systems. Looking over his shoulder, he said, ‘By the way, how did that date with Mike turn out?’
Amanda leans back again and smiles. “Oh I could Use some Black Joes Coffee for Sure, If You get me One i got a few Bottle Caps for You. As for Mike...well We watched some movie about Spaceworms but thats it.“
Jack raised an eyebrow and chuckled ‘Spaceworms, huh? You sure you didn’t get to see his space worm?’
Amanda laughs out loud. “I think I would remember that Jack. Shit its for Comments like this that I like You comming around here“ She checks The Terminal where hes working currently. “What You doing?“
‘Yeah, just kidding. I know you’re not as easy as Jenny,’ Jack laughed. ‘Oh, this? Just checking the pressure and water flow rate. Never know when things might go topsy-turvy while you’re napping.’ He grinned at Amanda.
‘Who me? No, never. You are the very model of this community. If only everyone worked as hard as you,’ Jack chuckled. He went away from the terminal and went over to Amanda again, ‘I’ll go and get that coffee, don’t nod off on me, Cinderella.’
Amanda chuckles “Call me Cinderella one more Time and You Land in The Waste Disposal Yourself Red Devil...“
‘It’s a nice name. I think I’d call my daughter Cinderella, it has a nice ring to it,’ Jack laughed, ‘You know you secretly like it.’ Jack gave Amanda a last grin before leaving the waste disposal room and heading to the cafeteria.
As Jack Heads into The Cafeteria he sees that its packed with People standing in Line for their Breakfast. A Board shows The Words 'Pancakes with Syrup and Milkpowder Shake' Jake sees Angeline sitting by a Table. She looks over at Jack and eyes him seductively.
Jack gave Angeline a quick wave and a smile, before he looked around where to get some coffee for himself and Amanda.
Angeline frowns slightly annoyed when Jake doesent bother to approach her Table. He sees His Mother Jane giving out Coffee to People by another long Line.
