I have no stories or anything like that but I got followed by this https://chyoa.com/user/SexxEmulator with ads on the profile about some game. Looks like some data-mining peep.

Seems like a little bit excessive following 90,000 isn't humanly possible in a reasonable amount of time. It would take 4500 minutes ~75 days to click every single profile encountered on this site non-stop with a 3 second delay per profile. This doesn't account for the delay time to load all the profiles! It would takes years to follow that many persons. Not only that it seems to query all users if you click on the profile that must be taking a some toll on the servers processors and bandwidth.

Is there a way to disable people from becoming my followers?

Thanks again! The spammer now creates separate users for each message he sends. That's why you all have different senders. I blocked new spam and am cleaning up. Takes a while because there are a lot of spam users.
