You know, for an Author's Hangout it rarely feels like their is enough activity to be classified as a hangout. Let's try and change that, let's get a teensy bit more open and personal here.

So Authors and Readers of Chyoa, share with me, and by proxy everyone else, a few things about yourself. Tell us something good about yourself or a personal goal of yours. Tell us something you would like to change or do, and then feel free to advertise your product if you are a writer or a story you enjoy as a reader!

I will go first, so as to be the first shy one to share.

I am Silver, on my free time I like to write and explore interesting stories and ideas. I also love the idea of erotic literature, so Chyoa is the perfect spot for that.

I'd like to change my first impression on my stories, they are the worst and usually take a while before I improve them on something I am more comfortable with, but by then the damage is done cx first impressions are everything haha

A personal goal of mine is to be rather active on the comments and messages with people who enjoy my content or just want to share ideas or chat. I like being social and would like to be open and easy to connect with as an author and reader here. A more selfish goal would be to get more followers but I would rather a small count that truly enjoy the stuff I write rather than a hundred of strangers I never hear from again CX

And I would like you guys to check out my Monster Girls story as well, the content is self explanatory but contain several stories inside. I like to experiment on themes and tones with each one, hopefully making them all differ from each other. Ack... now I actually have to say something. Well, I've been around this Genre a LOOOONG time. Grew up with Choose your own adventure books in the 80s, so yes, I'm the old guy. Overall, I find my taste in Erotica has changed a bit over the years. Much as I still like non-con scenes, I don't like them to happen to MY characters. I think I like my characters too much.

I have reread the books from the 80s recently, and all I can say is... damn these suck compared to what I read/write now. Half of them were just weird hallucinogenic trips that usually involved some random culture you were supposed to learn about... Heh, that actually might be a fun story to do, rewrite old CHYOA books into well written porn... (There was a LOT of body modification stories in the old kids ones, I noticed recently. Somebody had a fetish...)

Overall, let's see. Very boring, vanilla guy. Because I understand Poly is considered boring and Vanilla.
And some fun thank you music because I like signing off with songs and a hangout needs TUNES.

 

Well, the pleasure is all mine. In my opinion your story is one of the best of its genre cx I wouldn't recommend it out of the blue if I didn't strongly feel that way, so you have yourself to be proud of. You are a good writer, I don't think you need me to say that haha

Yeah, I admit I'm a bit older. I think that's how you get good. Just stick around long enough. I too hope other folks feel comfortable enough to join in. No pressure though, Nobody wants to be the first person to fuck at the orgy. (C'mon, it's just like a dance party with lube...)

 

Eh hello, am Actiaeon, I started writing on this site, because I sucked at writing intimate moments between characters. It was the worst at writing-wise; so posting on this site is practice for improving my writing ability. A skill I have no real reason to learn it besides, I want to.


I don't have a lot of experience with choose your own... books, I've actually read only one actual book in that style before, and I didn't like it. Was born far after they were a big thing.


I only recently started posting again, as I was in the hospital at the start of the year, due to some unforeseen illness. The aftereffects have left me with a lot of free time; writing is just one of the things I like to do to fill the time.


I've also noticed the forums are quite dead, not many people use them; I mean I didn't personally, until recently. I would like to talk to other writers though, find out what they think, bounce some ideas off them, and help get through the inevitable writers' block. Or hell just to talk to someone while you procrastinate at writing.


So I guess finally I will plug my story, link in my signature. I've been working on it for awhile now, keep getting delays; I have an end goal for the main protagonist. It is just taking forever, I wanted to combine erotic fiction, with elements of less erotic pure sci-fi. Even having moments of a slice of life like Star Trek: TNG; which was one of my favorite shows growing up, I would binge whole seasons; they were some of the best episodes.


I mean I didn't post any story for a long time, and I had many concepts until I was editing the intro for The New World and hit enter which published the story, so I decided to keep it going. However, that is why the title is kind of simple, fun fact about my story.


Other stories I would recommend, let's see When They're Gone, or the similar older Thrust both are great reads and have concepts I like. Also, Star Escapades, which has some great sci-fi concepts; I wish they would update more. Finally, I would recommend Evil Breeding Cult, which if you don't like non-con then don't read but I like to pretend I'm an evil bastard at times.

 

Welcome and thanks for chiming in! Improving writing is always a great goal.

The Story map helps with the "Choose your own" format, but if you're going with a full CHYOA feel it helps to map out a little of the story in a flowchart, especially if you're going to be doing variables. (I did take ONE semester of programming...)

And nothing wrong with fantasizing about being an evil bastard. If I didn't do it I wouldn't have written some of the stuff I have.

 

Yeah is kind of have that, I've got a long word document which details characters, their backstories, and likes, the world, what is on it. It also has various choices, I've only got 4 right now, and they diverge in a butterfly-like effect, i.e., they start similar, but the outcome is vastly different. However, I am currently focusing mainly on one branch as that is the one I like the most.

 

Nothing wrong with that. If you're enjoying the story, tell it! Nothing is worse than a good story abandoned because somebody felt they had to follow some arbitrary rules that aren't even rules.

And sounds like you're having fun with the story, and I'll try to check it out soon. (No Promises, because I have a horrible memory. )

 

Delighted to have you share with us Actiaeon, and I love those butterfly effect branches! They're my favorite, I call them 'what-if?' and they always surprise me and keep me interested.

Best of luck on your story, seems quite a lot of people like it so no pressure, you are doing really well there. I also hope you are doing fine in personal life and have made a full recovery from that illness you mentioned. Let's see who else wants to add in and share :^)

 

I'm Zeebop and I have basically only the one story I'm contributing to here at the moment, but I like to think it's substantial and diverse, even if it isn't one of the most popular. At this point it's somewhere near a habit and a hobby. If this one ever gets finished to my satisfaction, the next one will be a little more ambitious.

Got into writing smut a few years ago on Noveltrove as a way to express and explore whilst practicing my writing skills. Have always had an interest in storytelling/entertaining in general.

Chose the name Ben Rosewood as it sounded like the name of a Mills and Boons-esque love interest (if only I had the abs, billions of dollars, and women fawning over me...)

Have read a few Chose Your Own Adventure-style books back when I was younger, even if those were a bit before my time. Was obsessed with 'War with the Evil Power Master' when I was 10 or 11.

Currently aiming to get 1000 Chapters (which at this rate should happen next month) and 10,000 Likes.

As for favorites: Asian Persuasion, The Bachelorette Party, and The Afterparty are probably my top three (in no specific order). Also a shoutout to Sorseress from Noveltrove whose work is also a favorite of mine.

My nickname is Regin34 and I'm here from few years. I'm begin my adventure with writing, because I couldn't find anything erotic from Witcher, from Ciri, so I decided to change that. It was harder than I expected and in the end, my first project isn't continue. Later my activities was only reach comments and suggestion to other autors in their story and I like this too.
But now it change, I meet a few people here, on forum, when we playing rpg. Some we playing in the officialy forum threads, some we played in private messages. Fantasy, science fiction, star wars, mass effect itp. We write a lot just for our fun. But in the end, It wasn't enough for me, I wanted to share my ideas with others too and in the end we create our new story, Adventurer's Perils.

It was project of unisol_gr44 and my, and soon we managed to get more writers to our story. I have to say, that is easier to write longer story, when you can share work with others, so we writing realy fast.

Except fantasy and enf theme in the stories, I like the most when some readers leave a comments for our chapters. Sure, likes and faves are realy nice too, but real reward is when Reader telling us what he like or dislike. It is realy support and help to writing more funny and sexy stuff.

Probably I'm giving too much likes, when I fave someone story what I read, I always leaving like I think it is important to support writer at beginning, when he started and it is hardest to continue.

I would add that it is crucial to like even after someone has been writing for a long time, get them to continue after the inspiration has gone away.

Seriously, artists love every little thought tossed their way, IMHO, and a like is always loved. And when people do like bombs, oh man, I am always in a great mood for like a week after that. I wrote smut for more than two decades before joining CHYOA and was the only person who ever read my — in retrospect — crappy stuff.
While that would still be enough to enjoy writing, publishing it here and knowing that other guys enjoy it adds some spice to it.

(Though some stories — like CSC — wouldn't work that way due to their interactive character)

 

I've still got a bunch of crappy stuff out there. It's a bit embarrassing, but you know, some people like it, typos and all. I just cringe, release my "Special Editions" and pray that people like it them better than the other one. Wish I hadn't deleted a couple stories here in a fit of pique, but that's the nature of the beast I guess.

It is a great feeling to know that you aren't alone.
