Yeah, there's nothing bad with old (not so good) chapters and it can be pretty hot to read it after years.
Unfortunately, all my old stuff is gone forever. The sheets (I actually started writing on paper... didn't even have a computer :D) somewhen found its way into the trash and all the digital stuff became a victim of several HDD crashes. There were probably some good ideas, though — technically — it wasn't done very well.

Everybody starts somewhere. My first story was as generic as could be, and I feel a bit embarrassed when reading how awful the writing style is. But I understand that it is good to feel that way, because I can compare it to how my writing is now. I can tell, and I can feel like I have gotten better at it.
People that start with nothing find themselves accumulating something :^)

Hey everyone! The first erotica I wrote was real shitty fanfiction (I mean, there's some shit fanfiction on my Chyoa profile, but it's not the real, absolute dogshit tier shit that I used to put out...) It's bad enough that I'm not going to say anything more about it, but let's just say that some things are better left buried.

My first goal is to keep up with consistent updates for the current story I'm working on, the Freshman Fifteen. I had a decent backlog, but burned through basically all of it after going through a rough patch, and now am in the process of rebuilding it. A weird fact about the story: I originally started working on this story because I suck at writing/developing characters, and thought this would be a good way to get better at that. I'm not sure if I've succeeded at that, but at least the story itself has done decently!

I have a second story that I'm slowly picking away on. It's going to be a pretty big beast, pushing the limits of the chyoa engine as it is when completed, but it'll probably be a while before this thing sees the light of the day (it's sitting at 40 pages, and not even 10% done). If anyone wants to discuss how to insert more complex RPG mechanics into chyoa games, let's talk shop about that too! I've seen some cool stories come up recently that have done interesting stuff with our platform.

I think all erotica authors have that story. I was outed by some girls who stole my writing journal in high school. At the time... I got most of my information from bodice ripper romance novels. It was not pretty. Still want to write one, but knowing me it'd end up with everybody poly and pregnant, so...

But congrats on the Story, Another one I need to get around to. As far as introducing more complex RPG mechanics and gaming, I'm totally lost. I had One semester of programming, and all I really remember is that flowcharts are my friend. :) One thing I've always thought would be a good idea for somebody with more talent is to create a blank "Character Sheet" Application that authors could use to keep track of various states for the RPG mechanics. Generated table based off the variables as the base, customizable via basic HTML. Just spitballing, because I don't really know what is and isn't possible. ANd MUSIC! Because we need some.

IMO, I find game mode a lot of work that most people seem to ignore (judging by like patterns).

Then again my most successful story is the only story that has game mode so what do I know?

I'm so glad that the shit I wrote in high school has mostly been deleted/destroyed. Tell you the truth the only thing real thing that divides me from the person who wrote My Immortal is confidence and greed.

    Oh, and music:

I feel that The New World is my first story, while people liked it; I've had to multiple times go through it, adding and removing paragraphs, finding mistakes, and so on. It is quite honestly a headache.
I have one too, I'm only 12 chapters in, and it is only basically a prologue with character customization. But in the end, it should have various branching stories, with a currency, but hell, it is a lot of work. But I've learned a lot about using it and have been able to insert a few things into my main story.
I've had to sideline the story for awhile.
Yeah, I think so too, my main story says at the start you have to use game mode, because if you don't, you'll in up with some nonsense where you're with someone, then with someone else. But still, I receive messages from people saying that it happened and that it doesn't make any sense.

Whoa, somehow I've never come across your story before, but I'm definitely intrigued just from the story-map. Will have to give it a proper read-through soon!

But yeah, definitely know what you guys mean about people not using story mode. I know at least some fraction of my readers use it religiously, because I instantly get feedback when I screw something up, but it seems like the vast majority don't.

My story, Vampire Newborn, which @SilverSpectre006 mentioned in the OP, is actually the first piece of real fiction that I've written, erotica or otherwise. I wrote it mostly for myself, to fill a niche. While the lesbian bad girl vampire trope is pretty prevalent in film and comics, I found erotic stories on this trope to be fairly sparse. I try to keep the writing serious and entertaining, but ultimately I write what I enjoy. I am happy that the story has received good feedback mostly, but will not pretend that I am a good writer. As I said, I am not here trying to really hone my craft or become a good writer, I just write what I enjoy. The downside is this can cause definite repetitiveness and a lack of diversity.

One author that I will call out is Brainvamp, who's stories I really enjoy and encourage others to read. I actually found chyoa after reading Brainvamp's stories on literotica. Some googling led me to the wondeful material on this site.

    Great thread @SilverSpectre006 !

Well you managed to write a pretty damn good one at that haha
As long as you enjoy what you're writing then it's all good. Every mistake we make is another opportunity to be better. As for repetitiveness, I won't lie I think that is a worry and fear if I may be falling into that trap, the best I can say is you can view something as being repetitive or as being your signature style. I do not know how to explain myself well, but people have messaged me that I have a certain way of writing. I do not see it, but I understand what they mean. Likewise, you also have a style in your writing. It may be what brings me and hundreds of others back for more :^)

Everyone has their style of writing, based around their personal history, vocabulary, use of punctuation, personal word preference, etc. It is not a bad or a good thing unless it impacts someone's ability to read the story; it is just what it is. I think of it like a story's texture; you feel it. I think that both your styles are quite good, but both a unique and different.

I feel everyone can feel that they may fall into that trap, but you have to remember with your own story you are going to be reading it over and over again. This can make you feel something is repetitive when to the reader it is not at all.
Honestly, you have to use your best guess, if something is or is not. It's not easy, but if it were everyone would do it.

    Let me add some music:

I freely admit that I've stolen sex scenes from other parts of my books, changed names, and adjusted things so that they're no longer recognizable but have similar beats. (What can I say, they worked, and the odds of anybody reading BOTH of my 1st drafts when I'm pretty much combining them into one seems worth the risk. )
I mean, first thing you learn when being a material artist is that you don't always HAVE to throw away stuff that didn't work. Especially if you can rework it into another project and make it look AWESOME.

I played around a little with game mode (4 chapters deep with around 4k words,) though I didn't reach the point to feel ready to publish it.

Might be interesting if everything has to be kept a secret.
    "Everybody knows but the king"

Well, you could hide the chapter content and offer the same reminder on every chapter if game mode is turned of. (This is described somewhere on the forum.)

Dammit, now you've got the muses attention. That would be an easier one to write actually than the one I'm currently on. Just would need a large cast... aaargh, I'm going to have to find another obscure mythology to steal from...

Yah, but I'm more of a romantic. 7th Sea kinda already fucked that one over pretty good with their Avalon plotline, and I don't want to retread recently BADLY done.

Thinking that might either be my foray into either Norse or Celt mythology... Since those are the only other two I am even slightly familiar with... Hmmm, now I have this thought process involving several other of my fetishes... Hmmm... Wonder how many people are familiar with the Ring cycle these days... or does everybody's mind immediately jump to "Kill da Wabbit..."?

I think it could be interesting. I would like to read that.

I will have to look into that, might be a while before it is added, but it would be helpful to look at it.

How obscure are we talking here, what time-period, in my free time I study religions both ancient and modern; so I would love to help. While I'm not a professional, I do have quite a bit of knowledge on the subject. So feel free to ask away, please.

    Yes, it is.

Edit (Music, I changed it :D)

Are you talking about the Volsung's and Andvaranaut? When I hear of that my mind goes to Lord of The Rings, as Tolkien used that as the inspiration for his story, even Glaurung during his first age was killed in a similar way as the dragon in that saga.

Edit (However, yes I would love to read a story based on that here.)

Ok, my turn to add a little bit. I'm one of the writers from long ago at the old site. I had about a 15-year absence from adding anything. I did look in occasionally. I got all excited when the new site was put together and finally started adding again when I got my current job which is long 12-hour shifts where I can kill a heap of time writing. I also got a pay rise today! So hurray for me!

I am 99% a writer and 1% a reader so I'm sorry I don't read through too many peoples stories and drop likes. It's probably super hypocritical as I am crazy addicted to receiving likes! Logging on and seeing 30+ notifications is a massive endorphin rush for me.

I have a few stories I'm working on and a few I wish I could add more to but only have so many hours in a day. Thank you to Ben Rosewood for the plug. I'm loving Ben's crazy level of output!

And as for a song, this is the only song I ever put on at work and got banned from playing another song ever again!

    Thanks

Well, that 1000 chapters award won't earn itself. Do appreciate the shout out though.

I would say that repetition is one of my weaknesses as a writer (the price of having a crazy output). I'm currently experimenting with having my previous chapter open in a tab. That way I can give it a quick read to see if it seems too similar.

    Oh, and more jams:
