Hi everyone! I'm looking to create a Star Wars rpg set in the days of the Empire, about two years before the start of A New Hope. Please post here if you're interested, and let me know what kind of things you'd like to see.
I would be interested. Especially if the game was from empire's perspective. Not simple grunts, but leader's, figures of authority - officers, governors, etc.
You'd definitely be able to play as an Imperial, though the other players would be able to play as a rebel or an independent. As for ranks, I'd be happy to accept characters from the Officer class, though not too high ranking.
That's great! Are there any stats included? Also, when you say not to high ranking, what do you mean? Is captain of the starship/garrison commander accepted or to high? What about, f.e. a governor of planet, sector Moff or Admiral? Also, allowing both rebel and imperial side - that seems rather challenging. How do you imagine it would go - players as a team, or opposing parties (something like monopoly?).
On stats, I'm not certain, but I'm inclined to say no. If you look at the character creation thread for the Star Wars Old Republic, the criteria laid out there are likely what I'll use. For ranks, I'm generally considering mobility and balance as the deciding factors. A Moff or an Admiral will be stuck to their post, for the most part. They won't be able to go around and interact with other characters, and they would be far more powerful than some of the other characters. A captain of a small to medium sized ship would be fine, but not of a star destroyer, as those have less freedom in where they can go, and can send thousands of troops to slaughter everyone else. I was assuming for the most part that characters would start out with their own agendas, and then be made to pursue the same thing, though possibly for different reasons depending on who they are, forcing them to interact with each other. Whether they want to cooperate or oppose each other is their idea. I have a number of ideas that I've already mostly decided on, but I want to get feedback before I set things in stone. If you have ideas or suggestions, feel free to post them here, or DM me. I'm more than happy to receive any advice you have on how a game like this is best set up.
That seems like ambitious project. The lack of stats is a good thing, as they seem to overcomplicate things. Limiting command in that way, seems wise. Truthfully, it would be easier for you to lead the game if all characters were from one faction... Or all had a common enemy (which would be hard)... or pull of a time travel, and throw all of players in different era (battle of Naboo, clone wars, etc.) - which would be interesting... Truthfully, I know to little to advise anything...
So how will known Characters like Vader etc come in? Do You play their Parts? And do You direct the Events of Our Characters when we start The Story?
I was originally thinking of having the characters all be independent. Smugglers and Bounty hunters, ergo the title. I could also make them all part of the Empire.
I will control canon characters as GM, but I won't have them in the story to a huge degree. I want to keep the focus on the player's characters, not the one's that I control. At the start, yes.
After thinking about that, It will be hard to made characters in Empire of different races than human. Yes, admiral Thraw was excetion but from I know it will difficult. Maybe as spies? Or special comandos with different skills?
Non-human characters definitely will face discrimination, but they won't be so attacked that they're unplayable. They can't be stormtroopers, but they can be officers. Plus, if you go with a civilian character like you were considering, you wouldn't be constantly dealing with them. Non-humans are definitely used as spies by the Empire, as well.
Okey, I have concept of my character. Member of battle squad, hight technic and hacking skills, someone like enginire of Tf2 or one class from Mass effect. I'm not sure what gender chouse for this character but I'm sure to take someone non-human. So he/she will be responsibilte for mechanic parts of ships and vehicules, hacking lock and computers and cameras. He/she know how to fight, but it will be better if he/she stay as support. Any suggest for race?
That sounds like a great archetype. Race is entirely up to you, just as long as it makes sense, so not a Hutt or a Yoda, or something like that. I'd suggest looking at a list of Star Wars races and picking whatever seems right to you.
I wouldn't mind playing a TIE fighter pilot or something like that, but I'm not sure that would fit in the game. They'd be kinda stuck at their post too.
Well, your ship could crash land on the planet the others are in. The empire could even assume you're dead.
My idea was that after Rebels, The Purge on Mandalore began. The Empire wiped many out and drove them into exile. My Character is one of those Mandalorians. He earns a living as Bounty Hunter and Bodyguard
I'll be putting up a character creation thread on RPG information in a little while. I'll post here to let everyone know when they can create their characters.
You could play as an Imperial officer who flies a TIE, but also has other duties, sort of like Darth Vader does. That said, it's up to you.
All right. You can all post your characters whenever you want. Ask me if you have any questions. The thread is in RPG Information.
