“Cultists?” Celine frowned at Verena's words. “Carina also mentioned cultists – apparently a captured cultist told them you have that book. Seems like there's now a bounty on the cult leader's head – at least if it is the same cult.” The elf made a brief pause. “I'm sorry for all the questions, but would you mind telling us more about the cultists that bothered you? We should try to be prepared if we happen to run into them...”
Hmm. A day of travel, might be bad. The little goblin only has two gold coins left. And if he heads out that far, adventurers might mistake him for a common goblin. "Rr. What about Alana, where she spotted?" He asked, just on the off chance she was closer.
"Hmmm" woman hummed calmly. "Pardon me saying this, but you sound like you are admitting the validity of my point." The woman stated calmly, cucking her head curiously.
"Maybe." Catherine began to rise back up and turn around to head back home. "You're right. There's little point in bothering with anything." Heading back home, she went to return to the guild and look for something else to do. The witch probably wasn't going to be a worthwhile journey anyway.
"I might have missed one." She frowned. "They came, made demands to join them in the glory of the demons - I refused. They attacked, I killed them. What's more to say?" Woman snipped. "Just because I am in their sigths doesn't mean I know something about them. I have never met this cult before, but in most cases, they are crazy self-destructive fanatics. I have no desire to join that kind of band of lunatics." The woman walks out of the hut and stopped. Her head turned sharply as she looked into the forest. "The greenskin half-blood is with you?" She asked as her hand went to her knife.
"Hmm... the battle she escaped from was about two days of travel from here. But I doubt you would find her in the area..." The dark elf answered.
"Rr. Fine. Harmeni then." Gih growled, looks like he'll be needing to travel either way. He then leaves and proceeds toward the area where Harmeni was last spotted.
About a few hours of travel, the two bounty hunters stop, as they are now looking at each other, going in opposite directions.
Mostly lost in her own thoughts, much of them leaning towards her fighting back a world class tantrum that would make demons shudder, her face began to scrounge assuming nobody was looking at her, body tensed, her fingers clenched, tightening until they were completely white, and mumbling choice words from several different languages she had been called names in over the course of the years. Catherine was just so used to things going her way almost always perfectly, she had very little idea how to ever deal with something that didn't work out. Gambling was banned on the ship, but there was a reason nobody bothered playing against her even in port. She'd rather dump her own coin in the ocean than ever really admit she lost. Maybe had she ever learned how to handle things at least a bit better, she would've taken notice of the small cloaked traveler rather than just kicking along the dirt, oblivious to other people's presence until her thigh high boot had came upward, sweeping along the ground in a poor combination with her blind spot that lead a sudden appearance of black leather to come into contact with the other traveler she had completely failed to notice in the middle of her fit.
“Well, that's reassuring. Nice to see that you're not the crazy type of witch. Especially since there seems to be a bounty of the cult leader's head – or so we were told, we haven't had the time check that yet.” Celine noted, then looked in the direction Verena was staring. “Ah, yes, that's Rogriss and he's with us – at least for this job. According to what he told us he visited you earlier and you slammed the door in his face, so we decided it would be best if he stayed outside and kept an eye out for any other visitors, such as more bounty hunters.” The elf decided to be honest - if Verena recognized him lying to her would only make her suspicious.
"I see. Stay here." The woman said as she marched deeper into the forest. It took her about fifteen-minutes, to get back. When she returned in one hand she held by the hair a decapitated head that looked exactly like her, and in other a warped cloth. "Here - the head will last in this form for some time, days maybe even weeks. In the cloths, you will find some dark trinkets - amulets and rings. I would advise against touching those with your hands. Once we are done, I will vacate the area, and hide."
“Thank you, Verena. Maybe we'll meet again some day – though hopefully not due to another bounty someone put on you.” Celine told the witch, then looked at Alyndra. “So, what now? Maybe we should let Rogriss carry both the head and the trinkets, and take care of the bounties while we wait for him outside? He seemed to be... getting along with Carina, so he should be able to handle her. Also, you probably realize this yourself, but I think it will be best if we tell no one that Verena is not quite dead – not even Juanita. The fewer people know she's alive – the better.” The elf looked at the redhead, waiting for her reply. @unisol_gr44
'Hmm, yes, if he does what Juanita suggested, we'll have to leave them to it anyway,' Alyndra said, 'Let's get back to the half-orc.'
@Tjf “Alright, let's go. I'll carry the head and trinkets for the moment, and you can explain things to him.” The pair quickly made their way to where Rogriss was waiting for them. “And we're back. Here, hold these but don't touch them.” The half-elf handed the head and the cloth with trinkets to the half-orc, then waited for the redhead to explain things to him.
@Tjf Alyndra explained their plan to Rogriss, then shrugged, 'We thought it would be best if you brought the... head and cultist's trinkets, Carina seems to like you.'
Rogriss takes the items, making sure that none of the blood from the head can soak through to get on his fine doublet. Not a bad plan, though it would have been best if we had been able to bring her in person." He heads back through the woods, heading to the temple. When he arrives, he announces that he's here to see the high priestess on business matters, and heads to the chamber where he saw her last time, knocking on the door.
As Celine and Alyndra followed behind the half-orc a thought occurred to the elf. “So, we just finished dealing with a hot witch, and I didn't even think about seducing her. In fact, I didn't even ogle her... something must be wrong with me today.” She shook her head. Well, this is going to be interesting... Celine though when they got back tot he temple and Rogriss made his announcement. Together with Alyndra she kept watching, waiting to see what would happen.
@moonblack @Tjf @unisol_gr44 As they leave the forest, they notice the witch observing them as they leave. It takes them a few hours, but they finally reach the village. The sight of green skin walking through the village, holding by the hair a decapitated head of woman, brought quite a commotion. The people quickly vacated the area and hid around their houses. When they finally reached the temple, they were meet by Juanita. The priestess looked at the head and her eyes widened. "You actually killed the witch?" She asked surprised. "How did you managed it?" She asked, voice full of wonder.
Rogriss gives her a half smile. "Trade secrets, my friend. Unfortunately, she gave us no choice. I would have preferred to not have killed anyone, but sometimes things work out this way. The priestess is here?"
The woman slowly shakes her head. "Yes, she is in her bed-chamber, since the night is already starting... Leave the trinkets here - she will get suspicious if she saw you taken them." She sighted and looked at the sky, then sighted. "It will be hard to plant those in her room with her there... I will have to wait until she falls asleep." She paused.
