Hey! Just putting this here because I'm not sure where else to put it -- I've had this one user named SerPotato bookmark my introduction chapter (to the same story each time) probably like 40 times over the past two months. It's not spam or anything! It's at most two a day and probably less, so it's not like it's annoying me or anything. I'm just thinking that it might either be a bot account, if those exist on this site and are used to bookmark chapters over and over, or that it might be a user whose bookmark feature is bugging out. Either way, I just wanted to chuck this in here in case anything needed to be done about it! From my end it's all good, so if it's not a problem with administration or something then it's all cool because it's not even annoying for me or anything. It sorta makes me smile every time I see it, actually. It's like the one constant in this ever-changing universe -- if there's one thing I can rely one, one thing that I can say that I truly know, it's that SerPotato has bookmarked my chapter Introduction.
I've had the same. They seem to repeatedly bookmark and unbookmark my introduction chapter 3 times in quick succession about once a day.
There's nothing you can do to ensure that SerPotato will bookmark your chapter Introduction. That's become increasingly clear as time has gone on. But if they have? If SerPotato has bookmarked your chapter Introduction? Prepare yourself for a life of tripping into puddles and losing at slots, because that's all your good luck used up in one right there. It might not seem it. It might seem like a bother, even. But you won't always think that. One day, when we're all that's left, you'll be praying to every God humanity's ever paid notice to -- and your thanks will never quite be enough. If SerPotato bookmarks your chapter Introduction, rejoice. You've been selected to live. You've been chosen. Nothing good will ever happen to you again that will top SerPotato bookmarking your chapter Introduction. It's a moment you won't ever forget. SerPotato themself will make sure of that.
I've never been on the recieving end of that but I have had random Favorites and Bookmarks on my list dissapear, seems to happen several at a time, not often, just once in a while. Also, I'll sometimes be on the fence weather I like a story or not and go through a Fav/UnFav period where I swore I enjoyed this the other day and now I'm not sure. Sometimes, I also bounce stories from my Favorites list to my Bookmarks or vice versa, I imagine that must confuse or annoy authors now and then.
Could be a bot. Their profile is blank and their activity is hidden. Granted, it's not a very bot-ish username. 40 times over two months is way more than a mere accident. The only weird thing is that it's not a sudden spam of bookmarking, but only two at most per day. On that ground, it may not constitute harassment, because as you said, it's not even an inconvenience. I think if their activity was visible, it would make the mystery a lot clearer, because you'd probably find that you're not their only target. Also, if it's on your story Becoming a Warrior! then it might just be someone who keeps replaying the game over and over again, re-bookmarking each time. I understand there's a great deal of Game Mode conditions in this story, so perhaps this reader is continuously replaying with different choices in order to maximise the number of scenes they can access.
Had the same guy bookmarking my introduction like a million times. He must really like introduction chapters =p
