New story submissions taking longer than 24 hours to get approval?

Hi there, I recently sent a new story to be checked for approval. However, it seems to be taking longer than it usually does to get approved from a moderator of the site.

Anyone else also going through this? Is there currently a hiatus, break, or vacation going on that I'm not aware of? Or maybe it's because it's almost the weekends? Or maybe it's because there's been a huge new load of submissions and the mods are still doing their best to catch up?

Anyway, I only asked because I was curious and thought someone might be able to answer. I get antsy after finishing something and hear no response. But if not, that's fine too, I can bear with it.

Hope the community is staying safe during this tough climate we're all going through.

 

This might be embarassing. My story is now available to the public literally 11 minutes after making this forum thread.

Strangely enough, I never got any notifications that it was approved already. This site is still kinda wonky for me, I guess...

Hope other new submissions get their stories approved as well. Hope I'm the only one going through this strange circumstance.

I seem to notice a bit of a glitch right now with the notification system though. Usually, my notifications would tell me if my story has been approved and by who, but it hasn't updated in the past six hours. The new story you approved and published for me has gotten two likes and at least one favorite from users, but they were not shown in my notifications either.

Is there a possibility that notifications are currently glitched out at the moment?

Usually, when my new story gets published, at least a decent chunk of my followers would see it, and the view counter for the introduction chapter would be pretty high within the 200-ish within a few hours. However, with this recent one, I feel that it's getting no traction whatsoever. This might not be good enough evidence for notifications being glitched out on the site though, since it's also entirely possible that I'm just prematurely reacting despite my story being only up for two hours. Or that no one is interested in reading my new story, which is why it's so silent...

Still, I do think that it might be worth checking out if there is something wrong with the notification system if you have free time. Seeing the story's ratings and favorites go up but not getting notified about it makes me kinda antsy. I hope this problem is only on my end, and not a widespread issue with the site.

Yeah. Hopefully, Friedman will also double-check the notification system too, and let everyone know if there are any problems or not.

You say that things are smoother this morning on your end? Have you noticed any issues with the way notifications are being handled on your account? I just refreshed to check my story and saw that it had four more users favoriting it since I last checked, and those four users didn't show up in my notifications at all. I just want to know if anyone else is having the same issues as I am.

 

Well, I was getting lots of errors last night when I went to bed with bad gateway errors and the like that kept me off the site for a while. This morning I'm getting a few of those but the notifications are super slow. I count it as an improvement but not perfect yet.

The admins here are really responsive, I don't expect it to last too long.
