I was thinking about a new story about a creature freed from its prison due to an underwater prison by an oil-drilling operation, the creature now free from it's prison and traveled to the nearby city there using its power starts to make a harem that will help fed and defend it.
I would think of a siren actually having that type of power (that is, having mind control with their voices) -- but I would think of a mermaid as being the one that would be in an underwater prison (because they're part fish, whereas sirens are part bird). Of course, you can always alter the traditional mythology for your story anyway.
Catfish27 you gave me a lot to think about I could always alter the mythology as you said, but I think it is better to keep her as a part bird creature. So i can always change it so that instead of an underwater prison she is trapped in a mountain, and is freed due to mining.
