I really like the cover photo thing, am looking for photo's for some of my stories. Half wish I had a decent photo editing program now. A few I have made below for two of my stories, one that is waiting for publishing and one a possible story.
Actually, I'm curious about how you got the picture on the first page of your Son Massages Mom story?
Have to turn off rich text and use markdown text to add a link to a picture already on the internet. though I don't know if it is allowed on the new sight but I figure a larger cover photo can't hurt and I can remove it if it isn't allowed. I usually save it for cast pages in my other stories.
In markdown you can use the syntax: This only works for eternally hosted images (Imgur, etc.). We do not have facility for storing them on the site itself at this time. (Technically, this functionality is just a part backend software's capabilities. It is not actually a site feature, it just happens to work. Only the Avatars and the Story Cover images are actual supported image features right now. We have noted that people would like to be able to add pictures into chapters, but this will require some added work if/when we are able to do it.)
Peripherally related question. Do we have to worry about copyright issues with our cover photos, or can we just use a plain ol' google search?
I believe that any image that shows up under google image? is ok to use, so long as you aren't making money from it. People are unable to copyright things that a significant amount of people already use often... or is older than dirt. Such as Penny Dreadful and those novels. Though copying the later without citing the use is still plagiarism. Paint.net is the best 'free' photo editing software I know of. Adobe Photoshop is the best of all, and is used by professionals... though they add special addons and 'effect' scripts. Paint.net allows for addons and effect scripts too, for any one interested. Though it has less functionality than Photoshop.
Hey, how can I add a cover picture for my story? I tried the method described on post 5 but that just places the picture on the story page. The story was created 2 years ago, so I dunno if that is a problem. Edit: solved it myself. For authors with older stories who can't see the three dots next to the story title, just add /edit to the url for your story and if you're logged in, you'll get to the story edit page.
