Well, after practicing a little more, I can only say that it is not recommended to try and edit an existing thread to add a link with this system.

Also, I can't make the "unlink" function to work, other than to simply delete the thread with the link in it. Perhaps I'm just doing that wrong as well, but can't tell for sure.

You can't restore a previous edit of a chapter, but you can recover deleted chapters here.

I'm not too keen on the new linking system. Yes it's much easier to link to another thread but now the reader has to click again to get to the shared linked thread.

I thought that it was an automatic redirect to the destination if you weren't the story/thread owner. Try logging out and negotiating the link as a guest user?

can anyone tell me how to use the link system, because either I am being a complete idiot or its not just working for me. When I click the down arrow nothing happens.

I had the same problem, so you're not alone at least. ;)
TurinTurambar described it very well on the previous page in this thread.

Also, it's worth noting that you must make a new page after the one you wish to link from, and then use that as the actual link to the link destination. (No text allowed on the same page as the link. I made that discovery while trying to edit one of my old threads, resulting in a deleting of my text.)

After you click on the field, just begin typing the title of the chapter to which you want to link, then select it from the list that will appear.

thanks vain and xinycep1, thank I finally got it. Had to open chyoo in internet explorer just to be sure it was linking right when not signed in.

I get notifications about who liked various threads, but not who disliked them. By design?

Probably a good thing, if you dislike someones story they could always go through your story and down vote everyone of your threads driving down the story.

Shrug. The way it is, someone can anonymously downvote every thread because they didn't like your nickname. (We've sorta been there before).

Even if downvotes were attributed, an author could use a throwaway email address to set up a story-less account to do so.

I've always found it a little perplexing as to what to think about a rating that has no comments at all. For example, my latest chapter: was it "ick, spanking!" or "hey, why didn't you write the whole scene?" or "eh, repetitive scene setting" ? Hard to know what a downvote means without a comment. (Or an upvote, for that matter).

I agree, voting should only be allowed with an accompanying comment, if you don't care enough to write a comment then obviously you don't care enough to cast a meaningful vote.

If so, that's the perfect choice in my opinion. And no, personally I wouldn't like to be able to vote only with a written comment.
Oh, and I can bet Friedman (or others) could easily see if someone is spamming negative comments.

Is there any sort of changelog for the updates done to the site? More specifically, did something about the design change? I could have sworn the text of chapters was 738px wide, now it's 1218.39px - or did I change something on my end (screen resolution is the same)?

Also, speaking of that, it would be nice to have center-aligned text.

There isn't a specific change log anywhere that is public. Is that something people would like? Most of what we are currently doing is bugfixes found after the new deploy (such as fixing the unicode issue) rather than obvious changes like this one.

The chapter text was changed to fixed margins instead of fixed width because people with wide screens were complaining that they had a lot of wasted horizontal space and had to scroll up and down a lot. We would like feedback on whether people prefer this or the old setup.

Ah, I see. I personally think it's probably a better idea so that everyone can make use of their screen width, but it sort of makes a text align function necessary for me. Are there any plans for this? Doesn't even need to be left right center, just standard left and one specific markup to make a line center-aligned.

    Just A Few Thoughts

I am curious, will there be pictures in the categories section on the front page, right now there are just little semicolons?
Can the choices under the story be bigger font or different color, so they stand out more, or have something in front of them to make it more clear?

Has the Condition / Value feature been implemented yet? If so, could it work to keep track of inventory of items picked and later used?
