“Ahahaha!” The demon woman let out a rich aristocratic laugh at the hyena’s woman response before she finally settled down, eyeing the challenger to her authority. “You did not.” Coldly and decisively, she extended her arm out and created a small splash of blood that suspended itself in the air, floating as the droplets began to take shape, sharpening themselves as the blood hardened, shaping themselves into tiny needle like droplets. “Why are you so smug? You’re my slave too. I have no power over you? You forgot the law of natural selection. And a species too stupid to bow before their betters, doesn’t have a place even beneath my feet.” With just a little too much disdain for her opponent, she turned her head away and didn’t even look where she was aiming as she fired the volley of blood needles. Spoiler: Attack roll 1d20 6
And here we go. Let's see how much of a challenge these three will be – will be good to know if we encounter more members of their tribe. Velaelle pointed at the nearest male and unleashed a volley of arcane bolts at him. Spoiler: Attack Roll Roll(1d20)+5: 20,+5 Total:25
Vier drew his weapon defensively but still turned towards the other, unoccupied male and asked, "... I suppose I couldn't convince you to just have the two of us sit this one out? Y'know, let the big, strong, superior females fight it out and then we follow whoever wins?"
Valenya drew an arrow when she spotted the wolf dart past them but kept it nocked after it fled. Her ears picked up the sound of something trailing it, and when the metal clad reptilian came in sight she trained her bow on him. 'So much for stealth.' Val thought to herself, but it was at least a fair question. If the reptilian was intelligent, and judging by the fact that he was wearing armor suggested so, there was no reason to think what happened to them hadn't also happened to him. Still, her mother taught her to be weary of strangers so she examined the newcomer and tried to discern a weak spot in his armor if everything went tits-up. The strange contraption in his arms puzzled her too. She wondered what it did, was it a weapon of some sort? Valenya made a point to stay a step back of Cybele and at least partially shrouded in the bush. If this pursuer was hostile Val figured it was best to not be the closest one to him. 'Plus arrows were better at range anyway.' She thought.
The scout stops chasing the wolf as soon as Cybele pulls her spears out of the air, backing up and facing off with her, eyes flicking over the surrounded greenery before narrowing in on her. "...Who are you to ask?" He keeps his gun in hand, but doesn't aim it at her. She can see several spots on the armor where there's no plates in the way, just tough fabric; all the vital spots are armored, but it would be easy enough to put an arrow in somewhere that's less important. His eyes flick over where she's hiding in the bush, but she can't tell whether he's spotted her or not.
"I am Cybele, a warrior of Straza." She replied in a stern tone, and seeing that the armored person seemed to be non-hostile. Cybele put down her spears, "So then, I'll assume you also found yourself in this... place?" She asked, trying to determine if he was a natural inhabitant of this world.
@Daylan @moonblack @Auraicide Combat: Spoiler vs Spoiler Presumably the demon wanted to aim at their female leader. However, in an attempt to establish dominance and not even look at her target, the shot goes wide and collides with the glass behind them. Shattering it. Spoiler (1d20)+2=13 The Hyenamen seem determined to guard their charge. So despite the incredibly accurate shot on him, he manages to absorb most of the hit...although he does still take some damage. Spoiler (1d20)+4=19 Vela deals 6 points of damage to Hyena Henchman 2 (shit i forgot to number them. Henchman 2 is on the right, Henchman 1 is on the left) Vier has yet to attack but seemed to want to pass his turn. He can pass his turn if he doesn't want to attack this turn, but I'll give him a chance to confirm.
Val let the tension ease on the arrow without loosing it. If Cybele wanted to talk, and if this reptilian man was interested in doing the same, she was content to let them. As her mother always told her, diplomacy is preferable to conflict. She stayed where she was however, not wanting to startle the newcomer if he hadn't already spotted her.
"...Where is Straza?" The armored reptile glances back up at the sky. Suddenly finding himself in a world that seemed unreal, meeting strange warriors from places he'd never heard of... this was some sort of hallucinatory dream-journey, wasn't it? Easiest just to play along until his head cleared. "...Yes, I found myself in this place."
"I figured." Cybele replied, "So, I take it you're alone?" She asked, looking around, and keeping her ear open in case the wolf decides to come back.
"...It looks like it." The reptile raises his gun a little, ready to act if she takes that as an invitation to the ambush. "Are you alone?"
'Well, at least he doesn't seem hostile.' Valenya thought to herself and let her bow lower. 'Could be worth it to introduce myself now.' She stepped up beside Cybele and answered the reptilian's question herself. "No she's not."
As Valenya revealed herself, Cybele shrugs. "There you have it." She said, "Anyway, if you're also a wanderer here, would you like to join us find a reason why we got sent here?"
@Daylan @moonblack @Auraicide Sadly for Vier, the Hyena Henchmen seem pretty determined to protect their Matron. However, as Vier himself has not taken an aggressive action yet, they seem to be more focused on his companions. The first Hyena Henchman thrusts his spear at Valleriea with a sharp jab. Attack Roll: (1d20)+2=18 vs Defense roll: (1d20)+6=17. Fortunately for the tanky demon, the strike only does 1 point of HP damage. The Neish tribe leader(tesha, but you don't know her name yet) seems pretty intent to strike at the obstinate demon too. She's quick to move on her feet and moves to flank the demon and strike at her side. Her strike hits with a bit more force than her guard dogs. Attack Roll: (1d20)+4= 17 vs Valleriea's defense of (1d20)+6=11 for another 6 points of HP damage. The Second Henchman strikes at Vela, but she manages to deflect the blow. Attack Roll: (1d20)+2= 2=13 vs Defense roll: (1d20)+3=13 for a total of 0 HP Damage. So after the first round, the only one who has taken damage is Valleriea at 7 points. Round 2 combat: Spoiler vs Spoiler
The demoness is still left looking away, not even taking any real notice of the hynea beasts spear lodged her skin, only taking a casual glance as if it's just a minor annoyance, brushing the spear aside as he's left wondering in his head what exactly this girl is made out of. "Stop that." Dismissive of the apparent danger, she winces as she fees the sudden blow from the hyena girl. Not enough to knock her down, but clearly managing to annoy her. Now with her forced to actually take notice of her enemy, her eyes lock on the girl, considering her a bigger priority than the hyena men. At this distance and actually watching her target, the demoness goes for summoning up another blood wave so the hyena woman would attempt to dodge left, to where it would be safe, the demon girl lets her claws emerge from her other hand, as she prepares to use the spell as just a feint so she can get in close to finish it directly. Spoiler: Attack Roll 14
Well, that could have gone better... looks like these guys are tougher than the zombies. Let's see how tough, exactly. Velaelle's thoughts were interrupted by one of the hyena males attacking her – though the attack was pathetic and easily deflected. “You dare attack me? ME? KNOW YOUR PLACE!” The noblewoman shouted, then aimed at her attacker and unleashed another volley of arcane bolts, trying to get through his defenses and do some real damage. Spoiler: Attack Roll Roll(1d20)+5: 18,+5 Total: 23 Target: Hyena Henchman 2
With a small sigh, Vier moved forward and swung his pipe at the side of the head of Hyena Henchman #1. "Sorry," he says, "but I gotta help protect my womenfolk too!" Spoiler: Attack Roll 1d20+1 = 5
Valleriea tries to claw at the tribal girl, but she seems to be quite fleet-footed. Although the demon gets a glancing blow, it was hardly much to be excited about. Defense roll: (1d20)+2=12. Two points of damage dealt to the woman. Since damage was dealt, Valleriea also heals 1d4= 3 points of damage. Vela angerly shouts and directs a blast of arcane bolts that collide with the Henchman directly in the chest. It's a direct hit! He stumbles and staggers and you think that he's going to collapse, but he staggers back to his feet. His determination to protect his mistress the only thing that keeps him going. Defense Roll: 1d20+4=15 Which deals 8 points of damage to Hyena Henchman 2 and brings him down to 1HP. Vier's lack of determination is apparent and Henchman #1 blocks with the back of his spear as he engages with Valleriea. Defense Roll: Unnecessary due to a minimum of 5 equalling Vier's attack. With a howl, Hyena Henchman 1 swings at Valleriea again. However, he once again fails to draw a meaningful threat. Attack roll: 1d20+2=8 vs Defense roll 1d20+6=12. Their matron however continues to show her battle prowess in going head to head with the demon. With a great swing and an angry shout, she delivers a strong blow to her opponent. The attack gets absorbed by the strange red aura like every strike has, but Valleriea definitely feels this one. Attack Roll: 1d20+4=24 vs Defense Roll: 1d20+6=9 for a total of 15 points of damage against the demon. The other Henchman fighting with Vela is only hanging on by a thread and his attack on her shows it. Attack roll of (1d20)+2=16 vs Defense roll of (1d20+3=22) with no damage dealt to Vela. Round 3 combat: Spoiler vs Spoiler Hyena Henchman was reduced to 1HP. Valleriea gained 3 HP which brings her up to 26 before losing 15 hp and dropping her to 11. The Matron took 2 points of HP damage.
