Vier grunts in annoyance but decides to try again. This time he aims his swing at the Henchmen Hyena #2, trying to finish off the one on its last legs so the elf can focus on the (seemingly relatively) more dangerous threat of the healthier one. Spoiler: Attack Roll 1d20+1 = 16
The force of the next attack sends the girl a few feet back as she plants herself trying to stand ready. Her eyes start to take on the deeper color of blood red as wings start to fan out from her body again, now dropping her human appearance entirely as her feral instincts to feed took over. Injured and feeling the trickle in her throat that demanded she needed to eat. Her opponent was proving quite troublesome, and her mind went to finally taking notice of the henchmen in the room, now looking like easier prey to her as she lashes out to the one barely standing, aiming to bleed his energy and drain him for easy prey to feed from and keep herself alive. “You just don't know when to quit, do you! Just fall already!” Velaelle was about to unleash yet another volley of arcane bolts at the wounded hyena, when she noticed that her companions seemed to have the same idea. Thinking quickly she delayed her attack a bit and moved to the side as much as she could, putting the wounded guy between her and the other two opponents. This way if her target fell the attack would have a good chance to hit one of the other two. Once in position the noblewoman unleashed several more arcane bolts at the almost-dead hyena. The energy aura sparks from the collision of your pipe before breaking through and braining the Hyena man. The large creature stumbles and collapses dead at your feet. Defense Roll: (1d20)+4=12 With her original target down, Valleriea instinctually turns to strike at the next closest target. The other Henchman takes the brunt of the blow, but seems unscathed by it. Defense Roll: (1d20)+4= 20 However, the strike from Valleriea pushes the Henchman directly into the path of Vela's attack which collides with him at a decent clip. Defense roll: (1d20)+4=13. Dealing him 9 points of damage. Although closer to Vier and more effective against him, the matron seems pretty invested in taking down Valleriea first. With a heave, the athletic woman strikes at the demon. Attack roll: (1d20)+4=20. However, The demon manages to predict the angry woman's attack and avoid or block the strike. Defense Roll: (1d20)+6=26. the woman scoffed irritably at her ineffectiveness. "Why don't you just go down, you cunt?" Having just been thrown off-guard by the sudden attack. Hyena Henchman 1 apparently forgot how to function and spends the turn flailing wildly in Valeriea's general direction. Now, officially pissed, it was clear that she just wasn't in any mood to care about things like spears or attacks. The demon was a little disappointed of the one going down too fast and not getting the chance to drain him, but she quickly took notice of the second hyena man left standing. It clearly would be a good opportunity to absorb him. She didn't really register the attacks from the hyena man as she got closer. It was clear that he had hit her. No. His attacks were definitely connecting. But it barely so much as got her to blink, let alone phase her. Properly in combat mode, she weaved out of the way, letting out a "tsk!" sound, smiling at the girl. "You're starting to annoy me. Do you want me to spank you, little girl?" Now just trying to antagonize the girl into wasting her energy attacking her, Valleria still knew a particularly lucky hit by random chance right now could be bad as she felt the pain in her body, but she still retained the cunning of a demon. Still feeling the trickle in her throat of needing food, she dove into attacking the second still standing hyena man, lashing out with claws and bites, ferociously trying to rip him apart, both out of her feral instinct and her demon cunning, knowing it was better to pick off the weakest first and then deal with the nuisance while she was completely outnumbered. With the second hyena male already badly wounded there was no reason to delay and not finish him off. Velaelle moved until her target was between her and the hyena woman, spent a few moments watching in amusement as the demoness tried to tear the poor guy apart, then unleashed yet another volley of arcane bolts. Seeing the others have the second minion seemingly well in hand, noticing the hyena woman ignored him to focus on the more overt threat (and unaware of the inherent advantage she would have over him in a fight), Vier tries to sneak around the edges of the battlefield and swings his pipe at Tesha's spine . "Sorry, cutie," he mutters under his breath, not interested in killing her but if it happens in his attempt to disable her, it happens. Spoiler: Attack Roll 1d20+1= 16
The part-dragon gives a nod. "What are we hunting for? Given what I've got on me, I'd suggest small game."
@GenericEditor168 @asddas193 @Omega98 While the three of you converse, Val's ears pick up the sound of a squabble coming from the other side of the ridgeline. Whoever or whatever is squabbling is trying to keep their voices low and it's hard to discern what they're saying from this distance. Especially due to the fact that the accent is thick and gruff. However, they are definitely voices. @Auraicide @Daylan @moonblack The angry demon strikes out at the remaining Hyena and more or less rips him asunder just as she wanted to do. Defense Roll: (1d20)+4=5 and regains 1HP from the exchange. With the final hyena down, the woman takes most of the blow from your shots. Although they were not as effective as you may have wished. Defense Roll: (1d20)+2=19 for 1 point of HP damage on the leader. Perhaps it was because Vier did not really want to harm the woman or maybe it's her superior training. Either way, Vier's strike is quickly deflected. Defense Roll: (1d20)+2=21 Seeing her final companion go down. The woman knew the fight was lost. With a glancing blow at Valleriea [attack roll: (1d20)+4=18 vs Defense Roll of (1d20)+6=17 for 1 point of damage on the demon], the tribal woman bounds over a desk and backs off toward the window. She smashes it with the butt of her spear and prepares to defend herself one last time. You figure that if she isn't defeated this coming round that she'll probably try to make a break for it. round 5: This isn't even really worth updating the cards for: Tesha is left and other than the one hyena man dying, there isn't anything else to summarize Valleriea healed some damage that she immediately re-lost and Tesha only took 1 point of damage.
The two people Valleriea felt were an actual danger were taken care of and the girl was well aware how one sided this became since her instinct was to retreat. While somewhat losing adrenaline from her change into feral mode with the two biggest threats neutralized, she still wasn’t about to just let her prey get away that easily if she could help it. “Leaving so soon? Why the rush? Don't you want to stay and play with us some more?” Velaelle asked, her tone mocking. She pointed a finger at the fleeing woman, gathered some of her power, and shot a single large arrow made of arcane energy. Though it likely would not be enough to stop the hyena woman from fleeing, it would make for a nice parting gift. Spoiler: Attack Roll Roll(1d20)+5: 19,+5 Total:24 (Huh, did not expect such a high dice roll. I mean, my rolls were steadily declining – 20->18->17->15 (before adding Vela's attack value) – so I expected another low roll, not a 19... I hope I didn't just spend most of my luck on this one battle...)
Both attacks collide with their intended target and the matron takes a fair amount of damage. Defense Rolls of: (1d20)+2=7 and (1d20)+2=9 respectively for 6 points of damage from Valleriea and 15 points of damage from Vela. This deals 21 points of damage to the woman and brings her from 27 down to 6. Now we're just waiting for Vier (@Daylan's)attack.
Vier frowns, not exactly wanting the hyena woman to escape at this point... so he throws his bit of pipe at her, the rod of metal spinning end over end as it flies towards her. Spoiler: Attack Roll 1d20+1= 20
Vier flings his piece of rebar at the woman and it collides with her head. Defense Roll: (1d20)+2=8. With a solid thud, the piece of metal collides with her forehead and she gets flung back against the window sill and she collapses unconscious and slumped against the wall. +1 Experience for Vier, Vela, and Valleriea. One more experience is needed for them to level up.
“For a moment I thought she might get away, but it looks like her luck ran out at last.” Velaelle commented as she examined the unconscious woman. “Cute, but nothing more. Not my type, so you can do whatever you want with her – I don't care. I'll keep searching the nearby rooms and call you if I find anything – or anyone – of interest.” The noblewoman informed her companions as she headed out of the room to continue the search, leaving the defeated hyena woman at the mercy of the other two.
Vier is actually a little surprised that he actually managed to land the last blow but manages to mostly hide that surprise behind his frown. "Don't go TOO far," Vier calls out in reply as the elven blonde bombshell walks off, "I... might be here for a little bit." Looking over at Valleriea he asks, "... We got anything to tie her up with? Might be worth asking if she knows anything about the area when she comes to, y'know?" He suddenly grins and, while it's a cute grin, there may be just a dash of malice in it as well. "Plus, I have to pay her back for what she tried to do to us."
“I know, I'll stay close.” The noblewoman called back. “Have fun... but don't overdo it – you don't want to be too tired to fight next time we encounter something hostile...” And with that Velaelle left the pair to have their fun while she focused on searching the nearby rooms.
Valenya held up a hand to gain the attention of her compatriots, then motioned for them to continue talking; she didn't want to alert whomever was close by that she'd heard them. In an instant an arrow was drawn again and aimed in the direction of the voices, and she silently worked her way towards the ridge moving at an angle to throw off whomever was behind it in case they had observed the three.
