I created a story with three variables, but now I want a fourth. Is there a way to add more that I am missing?
Do you mean the immersion variables? If so, I think you need to edit the story (similar to when you want to change the story description).
Are immersion variables the ones that allow names to be changed by readers? Then yes. I can't figure out how to do that.
Go to "My Sotries", find the story you want to edit, and click on the three vertical dots on the right. From there choose Edit story. The rest should be easy to figure out.
Thank you. I couldn't figure out how to get to the story edit, I just kept getting to the chapter edit.
What about if you want to add a variable for a character's age and you want to limit the entry to a certain range, e.g. {daughters_age} must be 18 or older AND younger than 20? Or, {sisters_age} must be 18 and older AND 2 years younger than {brothers_age}?
As gene.sis suggested, you can use game mode - have a decision point like, "Is the daughter 18 or 19?" and record that as her age. If you're concerned about breaking rule 1, ages may be stored as immersion variables so long as the default age is 18 or greater, the story is not written in such a way that otherwise suggests the character is under 18 (appearance, behaviour, circumstances), and readers aren't encouraged, explicitly or implicitly, to set the age to be lower than 18.
Game mode: - Conditional Branches (and child chapters for in-chapter use) Immersion variables: - Create/Edit a story (How to add Immersion Variables) - Add a Chapter/Edit Chapter (Where you can use Immersion Variables) - Immersion Variables (Usage of Immersion Variables)
