Hey! So I'm not sure how many (if any) have ever read the story named "Audrey's Bet" but I'm the author!
It's been a while since I've written a chapter for that story although I'm looking at writing another story based in that universe with the same characters, although I'm thinking of writing shorter branches with less chapters, but longer chapters and more detail.
I'm just curious if there is any interest in that, is there really a reader market for short smuts with less chapters if they're longer chapters with more detail? I don't care about likes really, I'm just hoping for more feedback through comments. (Hot take: comments are better than likes)
But any feedback on the idea of this kind of story would be much appreciate!

In general, shorter chapters and longer stories get more attention on CHYOA, to the extent that a masterpiece anthology of short stories will probably be less popular than an alphabet-soup story of 200 chapters, 400 words per chapter. Most don't come here looking for a story so much as a specific kink, and the format you describe makes that harder to achieve.

As such, it's a good thing you care more about comments than likes. I find longer, fewer chapters that have more story and detail packed into them more easily gain a devoted (albeit smaller) following. I think readers are initially attracted to a story by the smut, but are only persuaded to return by the story or characters (or some gimmick like game mode). Building a fictional universe, of sorts, by reusing settings and characters, will greatly help you with this, since you'll likely reach the point where every new story you publish has an instant default readership.

In other words: although I haven't read your stuff, I would say, based on my experience with watching stories grow on CHYOA, that your idea would successfully attract the type of audience you want if you execute it well.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I think I'll have to include the character settings. I appreciate the suggestion. I've never worked with it so it should be a fun experience to try out. I do agree with your opinion of a smaller "cult" (for lack of a better term) following of a story like this, although I'm totally okay with that as long as the readers enjoy it.

Short stories are awesome! Most of the stuff here doesn't reach conclusion. If you put a [Finished] or something in the title people will FOR SURE get interested. Few chapters also trick the reader into reading it, thinking that it is short :p

But if you want to attract people while you are writing it, I think the best is for you to divide your chapters into many. You can pace it as you may, publishing 2+ chapters in one go, or bit by bit for you to write ahead or something. But maybe that's only valid for story-branches on general stories... And yeah, many long branches are still on my back burner.

And that's not the only way. I've read and follow and loved many stories with chunky chapters. One of them got that way as the author matured at writing, others the premise interested me and I went to read it, or I just loved that author and wanted to read more of them.

I think there's always people interest in anything here, as long as the author keep at it :)
