I'm against that idea considering all the governments sniffing about everyone's Internet use these days, we don't need to give any governments any reason to look at this site.

  2. Eh, I don't know of any governments that have a law against underage fiction. Lolicon hentai is outlawed in a few places, but fiction very rarely (if ever) is. I don't know of AO3, AFF, or any other fanfiction site that allow that kind of story to be banned in any country; hell, AFF allows you to write erotica with basically any age you want, and has separate tags for 14-17 and 13 and under.

    Embedded footnotes

    showing (or something similar)
hovering the highlighted name could show a small "balloon" with the explanation (footnote)

I haven't had time to look through all of these, but I'd love the idea to be able to vote for story of the week. Maybe have four or five stories in a poll and have people vote for whichever story they think deserve the SOTW award.

A clear NO! This is illegal and we don't want to be associated with such circles. Consider that there is an international cooperation between authorities regarding paedophilia.

I have talked to a lawyer in this regard.

    Minor changes

While editing a thread, it would be nice to have a checkbox "minor changes". If checked, the chapter shouldn't be marked as "unread"/updated. This could be used to correct typing errors or sth. similar without adding new content.
Threads with new stuff would get more eyecatching and viewcount wouldn't rise unnecessary.
(Maybe this could be also done automatically by comparing old and new version?)

  9. It would be a good idea to have a "Total Threads" search option as many of the larger stories have one large chain of threads and a few, if any, very small chains. Either that or something that shows the total threads before having to go into a story.

I would like the option to add chapter suggestions to the follow-up question a chapter.

Those should be appear below the continuation chapters of a story and clicking on them gives the option to write the chapter with this title.
Additional it would be nice if those appear differently in the story map, maybe in yellow or with a grey background.

I don't want it to be a limitation for writers but see that as suggestions to inspire others.

Can we get a global text view for a story, going back and editing anything in detail can be a pain. Also on that note can we have a suggested edits function to other peoples chapters, I feel like it might be there and I am just blind.

    Happy Saint Patrick day also

The pre-CHYOA site had writer's notes visible in the add-a-chapter edit view. It might be a good thing to revive.

I think we have that already, the guidelines are shown at the add-a-chapter view.

I meant giving suggestions for continuing specific chapters by offering a choice of options (without written chapters linked to them yet).

The guidelines are story-wide; the writer's notes were for that chapter only. As to suggested branches, I prefer to add them to the end of the chapter rather than adding that as a feature.

    I have the following notification:
I had NO idea which story this is, so I had to check. It's been so long since I wrote that chapter I didn't even remember I had written it, or which story it was for. Would be nice if the story was mentioned in the notification, the way it is in other notifications. For example the text could be:

This is one of many issues I have run into reviving such and old story. The author names are fucked on that story now too, I have moved so much text around and rewritten almost everything changing some mistakes and some small elements. A last edited by tag might be a good idea. Sorry for the confusion

Another thing I am noticing too is that I have been adding shit like crazy for the past day or so and other stories push me off the front page in less than 30 min some time, I have no idea if they are bots or just really committed but I think the front page might need to grow a bit.

One thing, can we get a author notes that can be seen by editors and contributors but not readers, it would make it easier to give feedback to people working on a story.

One last thing though, for logged in users who own a story please don't hide the edit button put it in the top right or left of the story box. When doing a lot of editing it can be a pain to have to dig for it over and over each time

I have written two messages now and both times I put all the text in the subject line. Normally I would chock this up to me being a dumb ass, butt the subject line is about 90% bigger than the body text box or at least it has a lot of dead space between it and the body text body. Maybe move the box up to just under the subject make the subject a bit more of a distinct box. At least move the top of the body text box up to the bottom of the subject box so that I can just click without having to move my mouse all the way down.

I also found the message writing page confusing in just about about the same way.

    totally agree with that.

I would suggest a similar behavior like in the forum, with the writing box directly below the subject box or the last reply. It would also be nice, if the subject box would grow with the amount of text.

The "Notable Writers" section on the front page... How can they be considered notable writers if they don't write anything? Perhaps a different algorithm for determining "notability" based on stories of the week, or top ratings, or views, or something that involves writing... but at the moment it's just based on being a member since the beginning... which has nothing to do with being a writer.
