Hi folks, I'm looking for marketing opportunities for CHYOA. Since we have some revenue from the banner ads, I'd like to further promote the site. I'm planning to spend about 80 USD per month. I know that myself, and quite a few other people who frequent TFGamesSite.com come here regularly. Its a pretty active site that tends to focus on text based adult games (Mostly things that involve a transformation, bodyswap, genderswap, shemales, etc, but there is other content as well. As a matter of fact, I know there are a couple of stories on this site, in addition to one of my own, that are also hosted over there in game form.) Might be worth contacting Lashek over there to find out what advertising costs. I'm sure there are other sites out there as well, but that's the one that comes immediately to mind. Hope it helps.
Consider this, find a really popular story. Cut it down, edit it down, and sell it on amazon as a interactive kindle story. It would be a bitch to get authors permission, often a lot of them but it might be worth it. Take X% off the top for all sales and in exchange for the publishing and editing work. Just give the rest and majority of the money to the authors. Then brand the books with Chyoa and keep pushing them out. It would drive site traffic and be a good way to make money off of what is a massive library of choose your own adventure books where most of the options lead to sex.
You could actually get some free publicity. Go to Reddit and do an AMA! (Ask Me Anything) Perhaps even get some of your really prolific writers to answer some questions as well (If they have time). I'm fairly sure you'd have to ask the Moderators there if you can do an AMA (They have to schedule them), but they'd be glad to I'm fairly sure being that our community is a fairly... well, different adult website than most. www.reddit.com/r/IAMA -- Go here If you land a spot -- awesome. Make sure to include who you are, what Chyoa is about, and what's been shakin', bacon. You could also do a whole, "And here are some of my own personal favorite stories/top 10" there to get them hooked on a story as well.
Whatever you do be sure to underline the fact that "the reader has the power to decide what to do", that's what sets us apart from the other generic fanfic sites and renders this one pretty unique PS: fanfiction'dot'net is viable? (to really catch people a good artwork would help a lot, in my opionion)
You could try advertising on hentaifoundry.com They have a fair bit of written content and if I´m not mistaken, some of the authors there also write here
If we are talking about advertising the chyoa, then you could try the site http://www.hypnopics-collective.net/smf_forum/index.php It's a forum about mind-control fetish. They could be attracted to mind-control stories here. You probably wouldn't need to spend money – just talk with their admins and put links to each site on forum – f.e. Chyoa puts a post about friendly sites on forum with link to hypnopics-collective, while hypnopics-collective puts a post with link to chyoa.
