"I was just kidding around. I know you're still busy." He chuckles, as the bell for dinner rings. As servants begin to bring plates of hot food, Yoeseph asks "So, are you going to see Cera?"
“Thanks, Bec. I hope I won't need it, but if I do end up using it I'll try to do so only up close.” Eanne gave a nod of gratitude to her bodyguard as she put the gun back in the holster. After thinking about it for a few moments she decided attaching it to her thigh would be the better choice, if at all possible.
The gun is surprisingly heavy, metal cold against her thigh. "Alright, then." Bec nods. "I'll go change into my disguise. Let me know when you're ready to head off."
“Sure.” While waiting for Delphis to come back with her disguise Eanne tried to get used to the weight of the gun – both when it was attached to her thigh and when it was in her hands. When her butler returned she would check her new clothes and go get changed, and she would also make sure the gun would be well-hidden.
"Hmm. Well, with the cold moons also interested in this place." Vizelle pondered, The emperor might unknowingly send someone in that organization's pocket. But, I can stay here forever as well. She thought to herself, "Alright. Jaya, please tell the emperor to send some support, and perhaps a landing party." I'll be judging whether or not they're working for the cold moons, before telling them we've already secured the planet."
Without firearms training, the weapon is slightly awkward, but if she uses it in the way Bec suggested - point blank fire - it shouldn't matter. When worn at her thigh, she quickly learns how to walk to minimize awkwardness, and not present a bulge where the weapon can be seen through clothes. Heading to change, she finds a set of clean, if well used, overalls waiting for her. The outfit isn't glamorous, but looking in the mirror, she sees that it's a convincing replica of what a spaceport worker might wear.
It takes time for the message to bounce its way from comm buoy to comm buoy, across the galaxy, but eventually Jaya informs Vizelle that a support vessel is being sent, with the emperor's personal congratulations for having safely landed.
"Eventually." Yannika answered as she waited for others to arrive. "I'm partly here on behalf of The Emperor, once that business is done I'll be back at the palace for the foreseeable future. But since I'll be on world I should be able to visit."
"Right, now, please see what you can do about the stationary defenses. The cold moon might have intercepted the message." Vizelle said, smiling and stroking Jaya's cheek to encourage the scout master. Then as everyone left, the sorceress goes to check on Urik.
"Let me know if there's anything I can do to help with your business." Yoeseph nods, digging in. Tymothy and Velve send word that they're 'indisposed', while Lord Wulfkin doesn't send any word at all, he just doesn't show up.
"Good idea." She leans against Vizelle's palm, before rushing off to do her job. Heading to the medbay, she finds Urik still unconscious on the bed, Omera by his side, with a medical bot ready in the corner if any emergency treatment is needed. "Oh, miss Vizelle." Omera nods. "Coming to check on him?" She points to her brother.
"Indeed. How is he?" Vizelle asked, sitting next to the bed. "Tell, this illness of him. When did it start?" She added, checking his psionic energy with her own.
Scanning him psionically, there's the usual different 'feeling' about his powers, due to him not being human. But scanning Urik further, she begins to detect something 'wrong' about his power, something that feels unnatural and out of place. "Urik was normal for most of his life." Omera explains. "He had some power, but it was weak, not enough for him to become a sorcerer, or anything like that. Then, a few years ago," she sighs, "his powers developed rapidly. He enjoyed it, at first, but before too long, they grew too much for him to control. He started having headaches, then migraines, then seizures. He would be fine most of the time, then suddenly his powers would flare up, and he'd be completely debilitated." She sighs, looking at her brother, before facing Vizelle again. "I just...want him to be healthy again. Happy again."
Yannika had mixed feelings about the dinner she shared with Yoeseph. On the one hand it was good to see and have a conversation with him. It was strangely welcome to be back 'home', and despite having been gone for so long she felt oddly comfortable being back. On the other hand it was just her and Yoeseph. While she didn't so much miss the presence of her father, she would have liked to have had Tymothy and Velve as well as Cera and her mother there too. It was more a ghost of a reunion and left her wanting more. After dinner she excused herself and returned to her room. It was the same one she'd had growing up, but everything about it was different. All of her personal affects were gone and it was obviously transformed into 'just' another guest room. She felt a pang of anger at that, and set down to get to work. Opening up a comm, she requested a private channel with Baron Winterhold.
Opening the comm channel and introducing herself to get past the baron's assistants, Yannika finally hears a raspy voice on the other side. "Yes?"
"My Lord Winterhold, my name is Yannika of House Wulfkin, Lady of the Sect of the Sapphire Hearth, Sworn Sister of the Holy Mother Church, and Envoy of the Emperor. I'm contacting you because my father, Lord Wulfkin, is interested in acquiring a number of systems from you in the Ulysses Sector. I'm hoping to reach an arrangement with you in which you will sell him the properties in exchange he will relinquish to me something I need. My question for you is: what will it take to get you to agree?"
There's silence on the other end for a few moments, before the baron speaks. "Yannika... The daughter he kicked out?" He chuckles. "To be honest, lady, I'm not sure there is anything that will make me agree. Your father has tried intimidation, blackmail, mercenary groups... I'm not averse to selling my systems, but if I sell to him, it'll look as though I'm weak, and backed down in the face of pressure." He's quiet again. "You were sent by the emperor, you say?"
"Then perhaps we can negotiate after all. Would you care to come to my estate? We can talk better there."
"It would be my pleasure my lord. I shall depart at once." With the call ended, Yannika requested a vehicle and driver to take her to Lord Winderhold's manor and went to depart her family's estate.
