Pirate Adventure idea.

Now, it would probably be a week, likely more, before I got around to starting something like this, but I wanted to throw this idea out there and see what people thought.

I was thinking of starting a Pirate themed story, the twist being that the crew is all (or almost all) female. The story would follow their exploits as they rape and pillage their way across the high seas.

My idea is to start the girls in a form of prison, probably an all female prison on an island somewhere. The girls would stage their escape at a time that a ship was in port with the intent of stealing the ship. Once away, they would form themselves into a crew and begin to plunder wherever they go.

While many of the girls would be pirates, highway robbers, prostitutes, or other individuals commonly associated with this kind of setting, some of the females could be almost any kind of background.

Basically, I would put together a portion of the crew (Just a few notes for some noteworthy crew members), then start a couple of characters for readers to follow. Other writers would be welcome to start their own crew members to add to the story.

The question becomes: Would people be interested in reading a story like this? Just as importantly: Would people be interested in contributing to a story like this?

The premise seems like a fine one.

Did you have a notion for the sort of character arc or plot arcs (or scenes/action) you might be interested in writing, reading, or encouraging?

Once they escape, would they have possible friends? Enemies? Pirate rivals? Unreliable allies? Hostages? Stowaways or refugees?

Where are they going? Do they want revenge? Escape? Or is the pirate life their best/only choice?

Are there struggles for power and command aboard the ship? Mutiny and disaffection? How do they play out?

Wooden ships and gunpowder? Mythical creatures? Magic?

What would an attack and plunder look like? Bloody? Slapstick? Perplexing? ("The pirates are all women!")

Great feedback and good questions! Thank you.

The kind of story arc/plot: I haven't decided on a specific story arc just yet (Part of the reason that I have yet to start writing it.) but my plan would be to write an intro that takes the readers up to a choice of who to play as. When the reader selects a character, that character's story introduction would lay the plot hooks for the coming story arc. The story's hopes, dreams, and goals would be defined by the character selected.

There would be a distinct possibility of mutiny and the such if a specific story arc calls for it. How it plays out, and where the lines are drawn among the crew would be dependent on the author writing that particular story arc (I tend to leave authors to their own devices. If they write a chapter, I expect them to follow up on it and rarely write continuations to their work as I see it as their own vision from that point forward.)

Wooden ships and gunpowder, yes. I'm thinking of a setting similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The primary focus of the story would evolve around the adventure, but fantasy elements would be welcomed, and I plan to add those kinds of elements to my own story arc(s).

Enemies: Given the nature of how they take the ship, most of the original crew would be left behind and alive. That crew would likely become an enemy to the crew, as well as any personal enemies the characters might have.

As for an attack, I picture it as being a little perplexing to the victims. Female pirates are mostly unheard of in the real world during that time period, as well as in this setting. An attack by such a crew would be surprising to say the least, at least early on until the crew had an established reputation. There will most definitely be violence between crews when the girls attack another ship or some other place, but I plan to gloss over the more violent aspects of it in favor of a more adventure driven theme over blood and gore. If a little humor can be built into any fighting, all the better!

Stowaways and/or hostages are a distinct possibility, and largely dependent upon the writer of any given story arc.

I think I covered everything above (Though I'm in a bit of a hurry this morning, so its possible I missed something in my haste.) so if I missed something, dont be shy about asking again.

I'm always up for a pirate story and the idea of an all-female crew is even better. :)

I love pirates, I'd love to read this so best of luck in writing it. :D

There were some real life women pirates such as Anne Bonny and Mary Read and others, but they weren't really the sexy kind of women pirates.

Glad to see that there's at least a little interest in this kind of story. Most likely, I'll go ahead with the story with I have a little time on my hands. I've been brainstorming a few ideas over the last few days, and I think I have a good intro for the story as a whole planned, as well as a couple of interesting characters to start writing for.

And yeah, these will be the sexy kind of pirates.

Started brainstorming up a basic story outline for this today. I've got a pretty good idea of how I'm going to start the story, as well as the intros for a couple of the crew. As of right now, I'm hoping to have something ready to be posted in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the feedback and general support from all of you who have stopped in this thread for a look!

Alright, been putting some final touches on the initial storyboard for this story, and its come to my attention that I do not have a good name for the ship. Does anyone have a good name for a pirate ship manned exclusively(?) be females?

At this point, if all goes well, the intro for this story will be up within about a week. :D

I think I can work with that. ;) Unless someone comes up with something better, this is what I'll probably use.

Thank you for the name idea.

Got the intro for the story written and submitted, just need to wait for it to be approved at this point. The idea will be to have a story that can follow different crew members from the starting point. I've got three of my own characters planned for the story, and I will be encouraging others to write their own characters into the setting as well (Same kind of setup as I'm using with the Virgin Games story). I look forward to hearing everyone's first impressions once the story goes live. :D

Just wanted to stop in here one more time to say "Thank you" to all of you who took the time to post in this thread, as well as the people who have opted to contribute in the form of chapters for the story, or through other forms of discussion.

I'm still building the story towards the deliciously naughty bits of the story, but rest assured that its coming. Right now, its largely the background of how the girls end up with the ship, as well as establishing the characters themselves. I'm having a lot of fun writing this story so far, and I'm looking forward to having more time to invest in it soon.

I hope to see others take an active hand in contributing to the story as well!

I am curious, is your story set at any particular time in pirate lore? Also, my favor name for a pirate ship is the "Sea Witch."

Roughly 17th century is the time period I envisioned when starting the story. This said, I've been careful to avoid any specific year or location so far in an effort to allow other authors a bit of creative freedom when/if they decide to contribute to the story.
