Ok, so maybe I missed where it was explained or its not there, but how do you post a pic to go with your story?
These two threads explain the process: 1, 2 First of all, make sure that your desired image is hosted on an external site, and then add the line: Code: to your page. Where "url.jpg" is the address of your image. Be warned though, this isn't an official feature of Chyoa. As such, your picture won't scale to differently sized screens, and your image must be hosted on an external site (such as Imgur).
For the story "cover" picture: Go to "my stories". Click on the 3 rings right of your story and choose "Edit Story". There you can click on the box (or picture) above the story title to choose or change the picture.
It didn't give me an option. It says "add pic" but I cannot do anything with it. It just opens up my browser tab
It should open a window for opening and uploading a local file, which will be processed by and saved on chyoa.com (the procedure described by Flauros with external hosted pictures can be used pictures inside threads) I just tested this and for me it opened the upload-window (using Opera). If this doesn't work for you, this may be a bug.
Ok I think I figured it out. Its not a centered link, so when I tried to click on the part that says "add pic" it wouldn't do it, but farther up in the box it worked. thank you both for your help
What do you guys think about adding pics in general? I´m thinking of adding a pic, but idk if it wont maybe turn some people off. When I write, I orientate myself to Hentai manga, so I´d pick a drawn picture to go with it, but I don´t want to scare off people who dislike Hentai...
In my personal opinion, there should be no need of additional pictures beside the story cover. I think, that the story should deliver the pictures in words and leave the rest to the personal imagination of the reader. Sometimes it may useful to show some pictures, which can't be illustrated easily. (like maps, game boards, etc.) If a story is meant to be kind of a photo story or manga, the use of pictures may work well. In that case, it can be a problem if a story character is played by different picture characters. In general, I suppose, that a lot of people like pictures within chapters.
I agree with you and when I asked this, it was more how to post a picture as the cover, not how to add picture into the story/chapters. The add button for me was not on the pic but around it, that is probably cause of my touch screen, that is why I was having issues finding how to add one.
I think its really dependant on the story. Some stories revolve around a picture series. The pictures are a companion to the story, and probably lead the story, and when written the story should have the pictures in mind. Some stories force the pictures in. This can be awkward, it can be distracting, but on the plus side... Who the hell doesn't like a good, sexy picture regardless of the context? Still, this is probably the least preferred picture-in-story formatting. Personally, I've taken to selecting a model for the main female (or femme-male) character of my stories, posting it, and having no further pictures. I view this as similar to the 'cover art' picture, which I think most users deem acceptable, because so far my stories have been created around a central theme and then follow separate characters (which use the model character for inspiration). The advantage of the picture is real. Pictures can be very sexy. Describing a person, especially an oft-used person or main character can be an awkward, even off-putting thing that takes up space and is still unsatisfactory. Lastly some things when written can sound unreal - like "the stunning blonde took a 19" horsecock shaped dildo up the ass" might sound very silly in words, but if you can prove it with a picture its suddenly not an unbelievable plot point at all. That example was a little bad, and I dont necessarily recommend using pictures consistently in that way, but I think the point itself can be valid in the right context. Even if its just showing off that your bimbo body stats really can exist. I am also a big fan of 'caption' porn, which is not so much a feature of chyoa but I think is an amazing medium for erotic picture/word team up in general with a great variety of styles. All that aside, unless the story is specifically meant to revolve around pictures I think most stories do very well, and be designed to do well, without any accompanying pictures. You never know when this hosting or that will go down, and its much easier to preserve words, and erotic literature is just that - literature. Although, again, blurring the lines can lead to some fun.
I really favor gene.sis opinion that they shouldn't be needed if the author description makes your mind picture what they are trying to convey. There are times when i hink it's because of the cover picture that some stories are read good example T.L.C. I think if it wasn't for the picture i used it wouldn't get the reads it has!
I like to use them for reference. For my first story here I avoided because my goal for most of the story has women wearing outfits that would be hard to track in pictures. For my new story The Bridal Boutique I started with the picture of how I want the character to transform into, but don't post it till the end, usually after the description is posted.
We had someone question the rule for links in a similar capacity a while back, and I stand by what I said then: Links to images of game boards: No objection. Links to images of characters and celebrities for fan-fictions: Pass, but a verbal description should be included. Links meant to simplify the process of describing the features (original characters' physiques, clothing, jewelry, etc.): Forbidden. I also second Zelonkarac's notion of using pictures for models. I have used several clothing catalogs and shopping websites to figure out how to dress my characters for certain occasions, but I've never defaulted to using the pictures as a substitute.
