I've been on a pretty long CHYOA writing hiatus and right now the ideas I'm working on are more suited to a linear story than a CHYOA format Does anyone have any sites they prefer to go to for that?
I'll just say that, CHYOA's chapter branching is not necessarily essential to a story (a sort of fight broke out once in a thread of mine about this), so if you want to have a linear story, that's also ok. But since literotica was tossed in, I'd wager Hentai-Foundry.com as well. Granted literature is not as respected/noticed over there, but it's an option.
Linear stories work well on CHYOA as well. You still have the advantage of adding chapters one by one instead of writing dozens of chapters to finally get the feedback for the whole piece.
I concur with all of the above. Literotica is good if you have a completed story or can break it up into parts/chapters where each feels like a completed piece. That said, as a more linear writer who struggles to sit down and complete a whole (long) story, I've had no complaints about my more "serialized"/linear story here on CHYOA. Though I do hope to complete it rather than keep it ongoing. I think audience is another factor, if that's a concern or something you care about. IMO, I'd say Literotica and CHYOA have slightly different readers besides the "choose your path"/branch concept versus completed story. I'm sure there are those of us who read/write on both sites, but certain story categories/fetishes/POVs seem to get more love on one or the other... or so I've seen. Also, I've seen some writers have issue with toxic readers/comments on Literotica. Not trying to deter anyone from that site as I still read there whenever I want a clear cut one-off or completed type of story versus getting lost in the weeds on CHYOA, but something to consider depending on your category.
