This is definitely over ambitious but I wanted to write an original story set at the end end of the 18th century when clothes were fairly simple so none of that whole Victorian palava of taking half an hour to dress/undress. It is going to be well over 100 chapters and is here: https://chyoa.com/story/The-Trials-of-Priscilla-and-Abigail-Hawksby-–-A-Gothic-Adventure.9184 More details can be found here: http://forum.chyoa.com/threads/hellfire-story.261/ It is not really suitable for the feedback section because I will not be changing it. Well obviously I shall edit chapters myself but as far as the story is concerned that is fixed. I will answer any questions about it here and in anticipation of which: The main heroines Priscilla and Abigail do not really appear in the first part except as indistinguishable twins. This is because Part 2 was supposed to be the start but then I wanted to explain how Sir Thomas Squires came into their lives and to give Caroline more of a role since originally she was a very passive character having a bad time. The book is set in real geography (Baysdale Manor does not exist but everywhere else does) and many of the locations are real as well, including an inn and a coffee house. I wonder if any of you can find the exact location of Baysdale Manor? There are enough historical connections here for a sequel as well and I might just have one planned. There is a reason why there are so many Juniper bushes on these particular moors. It really was a filthy time in terms of hygiene with shit basically thrown out the window even if the people were civilised enough to use a pot, but in contrast to my other stories I do not intend the inclusion of any watersports, although there are elements of bondage obviously. There will be violence I am afraid - that would be unavoidable - but I do not want to be graphic and really I have kept it to a minimum compared with what I possibly should have done. After Part 2, Parts 3, 4 and 5 will run concurrently with 3 different sets of characters in their own situations.
I realise it seems slow in terms of the sex but there are at least 5 chapters in Part 1 with sex including an orgy so bear with me. When we get to Part 3 there's a lot of it.
Chapter 30 which I have just published marks the appearance of the third of the wicked characters. Thomas, Hannah and Thirsky (except he must be bending his knees because he's a couple of inches taller than Thomas) It is probably a deficiency of the story that Sir Thomas himself, although he has the big ideas, suffers possibly due to his accident from various weaknesses. This means that the extra twisted behaviour is usually initiated by Viscount Thirsk and especially Lady Hannah Selby. However I do like to go ensemble rather than rely on one character. I am trying to keep ahead which is going to be tough with the Olympics. I have so far completed 74 chapters and Priscilla has just spent her first night in a harem ... where did you think she was going to end up? The problem is I have so many characters now and surely they deserve their own scenes. Such complicated stories really do take on a life of their own. Maybe Hannah should get her own spin-off.
As well as publishing one of my favourite chapters today in which we see what a naughty girl Hannah is, I have just finished a 1500 word chapter which I found the most enjoyable I have written for a long time. It features the Bey of Tunis unwrapping his present as a result of strip backgammon, but it seems that his prize is the true winner.
I have often heard about the difficult middle part of a novel and I think that's the trouble. I really did not know how far to go at the end of Book 3 with Abigail losing her virginity and held back for a long time, but writing about Priscilla aboard ship was really difficult - thank goodness Fanny was there as well - but now I'm back in part of the story I had always intended the writing is becoming much easier. I may have similar problems with Book 5 for which have fairly strong ideas at the start but later on I have really had no concrete ideas other than Nathaniel and Francis getting detained or delayed yet again. Book 6 however I have too many ideas for and I can only write one version of the main event at the Hellfire Club. Then after lots of journeying in Part 7, I am all set for the finale at Gillamoor Court. Part 3 which has just started is a regular sex fest.
Unless you want to go all "In a Bamboo Grove" on the main event, and have each participant recount it differently. -Z.
I had to look it up on Wikipedia and it says Ghost Dog mentions it. I see it's a bit more than the money swap in "Jackie Brown". I think my story is complicated enough. If I message you about the problem (not so much a problem as a decision of which way to go) it will give the plot away although it does involve the section we talked about last year.
Today's chapter features the hottest girl in the whole tale, the submissive Arabella Skipton, who will make several more appearances and will of course be used by Hannah and the Viscount. And the 2 sisters from the coffee shop take a break from being lady's maids to return to their original profession.
The Hellfire Club has opened, although the next chapter has the real action. At the moment I have an eye infection affecting both eyes which makes it impractical to write - hence the slow release of chapters because I do not want to catch myself up.
