What lead you to Chyoa?

I noticed it mentioned in the Literotica forum. This site has numerous advantages over Literotica, the main two being you can easily edit and republish a chapter, and you can easily write alternate endings without publishing it as a brand new story. I wish we could get a lot of the good writers from that site to publish here. There's much more creative opportunity with the site design here for authors, and we need more long-form stories with good character development in my opinion.

We're actually a spinoff of Literotica [content-wise, anyway, for the Chyoo 1 stories], under new management (tip of the hat to our site developers and maintainers, well done!), so I expect that we're known in the Lit forums.

I've put a few stories up on Lit, but CHYOA is more author-friendly in exactly the ways you highlight: edit/republish, alternate endings, and it's easy to have many contributing writers within a single story.

For me i started reading Writing.com, but eventually i grew tired of their fake “resource limitations” and allowing extremely dubious content.

so i started looking for alternatives, and one day I found chyoa.

actually, the way I remember Chyoa was weirdly difficult to find, like I explicitly searched for CYOA erotica on multiple occasions and i only found Chyoa really by accident just looking for normal erotica.

I wrote for the Grey Archive a million years ago, and stopped when that site started to go through repeated shutdowns and lockdowns. Eventually I discovered erotic videogame writing, and the lead of the game I was contributing to (Magma) pointed me here.

I went through the nightmare that is Writing.com. If you don’t know what that is, let me tell you. Basically it was the go to Interactive stories site for a bit until the started their little Premium Membership club. It started out as just having to sign up for an account and then you could read a fair amount of chapters. Then they started locking people out so they could only read 3 chapters for free. Now you literally have to pay in order to read most of anything (other than setup) and on top of that it doesn’t work half the time. Writing.com has truly turned into nightmare fuel. So I had moved on to a forum board and heard about CHYOA.

At first I was skeptical because I didn’t want to go through another Writing.com, but eventually I was sort of forced to try it out after the forum was due to shutdown so I moved over all my work to CHYOA and now we’re here. I still write for phpBB boards sometimes but CHYOA is where most of my content is now.

Hard to remember. I think it was back when I was trying to build CHYOA style games using the RAGS system. It was a frustrating and slow process, so googled around for something simpler. Might have found CHYOO through Reddit?

Sounds like my experience with TADS (and later on, Twine). I think rec.arts.interactive-fiction may have been part of my arrival path.

  9. Honestly, I have no clue. I have always loved TFgames and been a lurker on the site. So I wanted to write a story there and try my hand on Twine but my project end up being too ambitious for me. Then I looked up choose your own adventure porn. Then I ended up on this site becoming a lurker. I have experience in the past writing stories with multiple options so I decide to try my hand at this website.

I was doing research on the Curvy Berlin girls. A Google search brought me to the CHYOA story based around Curvy Berlin. I wasn't very happy with most of the chapters in that story, but I was blown away by the concept. So I started browsing around and noticed I liked the "big 4" Mind Control / Free Use stories (Sexual Privilege, Written Ownership, The Rulebook and Normality) and I had a very strong idea how I would like to see some of the chapters continue. So I started writing.

I like reading erotica of certain fetishes. I like reading/playing "choice of" games. But most importantly, I love to imagine "what if" scenarios and alternate endings of these stories and sometimes I write scribbles of these alternate scenarios. CHYOA is perfect for me since I'm not confident enough to write elaborate fanfiction in AO3 and literotica is just too intimidating for novice writer, err... scribbler like me. Now, I forgot where I found my way to CHYOA, but it was when I was searching something related to erotic worldbuilding I think.

I was rescued by the future selves of various CHYOA writers that had formed a resistance against Goobook. They then sent me back in time to write erotic stuff on here.

I can't tell if the goal was to make people in our time period horny, so we'd fuck more, or to give us an outlet, so we'd fuck less. Either way, it's Shotgun Eugenics. Oh well. It's still a less off-putting plot twist than Luka's fate in the anime.

I can't remember what I was googling. Either Twine, Ink, or Ren'Py, when I stumbled down this rabbit hole. Then I saw a konosuba fanfic and decided to make the joke meta and then beat it into the ground.

Followed a link I randomly spotted on Reddit. Which is odd, in a way, as I'd barely been on long enough to find the link before wandering over to here.
