1 hour to 3 weeks, depending on the story/editor. (I've contributed multiple chapters to the story that has > 1 week editor turnaround).

I have contributed multiple chapters to the story in the past, this one is unapproved since april 23. The author was not online for quiet some time. Its an old but very long story and it would be a shame if it does not get updated anymore.
What determines the review delay? Is it to scan for inappropriate content? Or is it a quality check? I'm fine with both but I made the boneheaded mistake of telling people about my story without noting the delay. Thanks, -ShamusBaran
The approval time depends on different conditions. A new story always need the approval from a moderator. This usually happens within 24 hours. A chapter added to a story where you have the user role "owner", "editor" or "author" don't need approval and will be visible immediately. A chapter added to a story with story mode "public" don't need approval and will be visible immediately. A chapter added to a story with story mode "moderated" needs the approval of the story owner or story editor. The time until the chapter will be approved can vary (not every user log into chyoa every day, some accounts may be abandoned). If you think, it needs too long, you can request approval in this thread.

Do I need to wait longer before submitting my candidacy to take the story over? If I were to be made editor, would I have the ability to edit the original first post? Not to really change it, just for spelling, grammar, and to expand on it some.
