Dissonant Soundtrack

Something similar happened in a story I'm writing. I planned to redeem a villainous character but it contradicted the ending I had planned (she did something that I thought would make readers not accept her redemption) so I'm gonna make that an alternate path.

Yeah ordinarily that might work, but the two I'm grappling with would each change things so significantly that I'd basically have to fork at the beginning and write the story twice. Gonna have to think about which one I want to keep and save the other for another day.

I intend to finish on my main path first before starting the second one. I have a good idea of where to start my second path and it's almost at the beginning.

You should focus on the one path for now and finish it before starting the second one.
