IME the key is treat composing and editing as two distinct tasks. Just write the plot out with no flourish, minimal descriptions, and raw dialogue, just to get it on paper. THEN edit in all the context you want and work on pacing. Trying to do both at once slows my pace to a crawl and then I get discouraged.
