How many chapters was it? It sounds like a "forced to say yes" kind of story, which I think generally does well on CHYOA, depending on the content involved.

I think criticism in public is alright, so long as it's not excessive or mean. It may embolden other users who believe in that criticism, but are too shy to say anything. Then the writer may see that a larger portion of their readership feels a certain way. Hell, maybe there could be a "Like"...

Sometimes I favorite a new story without liking it and check back later to see if it was worked on. If it's still barebones I unfavorite it.
