I'd only ever PM if I knew them well. Normally I'd just give them space but sometimes I'll drop an encouraging comment on the last chapter they've written. Something along the lines of 'love this story, hope to see a new chapter when you're ready'. I've had stories that I've left for ages...

Very much the same here. I don’t use branching or game mode but stay here because it’s so easy to use the site, the folks here are lovely and Friedman and the team are very good. And trust me, I’ve tried hard to find other places to publish my work but they’re all terrible in comparison.

That's very true, especially about Friedman, he's always so helpful.

I'd love to be able to write like that but I just don't seem to be able to, I'm a very linear writer. I do like getting out of my comfort zone though so I will try it one day.

As with much of this debate, it depends on context. But I agree in principle that some sexual violence is okay. As you say, it's excessive that is the problem.

I'd be pissed off. With the exception of super huge sprawling stories with loads of people contributing, and thus hard to keep up, I'd say it's down right rude not to like a chapter someone else has added to your story. I'd go so far to say as it's rude to not comment too.

Context is key. Sexual violence is generally a big no no. What you've described seems to be in keeping with a fight scene for the type of genre you're writing. I'd say it's okay, but without reading the whole story it's hard to know for sure.

Ah yeah, that is an issue. I avoid names of people I know too, which often means I end up re using names quite a bit. I think I've used Katie two or three times now for a main character. If I then had a new niece called Katie, yeah, I'd have to go through and change it.

Yeah, Unless there's a real issue with the name that affects the story somehow then I'd just accept it too, it's a lot of work.

I'm not aware of any function that would do this. Do you have a copy of your work saved somewhere else? I write on a word doc then save it and copy across to Chyoa. If I needed to switch the name out then all I could think to do would be to go through my word doc using the search function and...

I'd echo this, keep a hard copy of the pics as image hosting sites are notoriously fickle, I've had to change mine twice now, currently using Freeimage which seems very good. My process for pics is long winded but it works for me. I spend ages searching for pics before I start writing, that...

I'm using Free image host now, it works well and is okay with porn. I've learned the hard way to back up copies of the pics I want on my hard drive, so that if and when the site/s so down they are there ready to go back up. I use paint to edit them, which works very well.

Thanks, that's kinda what I'm doing now. I looked at some reviews and Free Image Host looks good, I'll give that a go. Seems quite slick and allows porn so ticks the boxes.
