It’s usually caused by a period without a space after it, because the spam filter can sometimes read that as a domain. For example, something like: “end of sentence.it is…” can look like a website/domain to the filter.

Sorry for my late reply. Just to clarify what I meant: --- does not stay as three visible dashes. It gets turned into a stylized divider/horizontal rule. Have you noticed that before, and do you think that could work in your context?
