If you are still looking to do this, the site offers the option to re-order the branch links now.

It's all fun and games until some rookie plunks your Lt. in the back of the head with a sex grenade.

The turn based XCom aligns perfectly to a CHYOA format

The POV of the scene is really relevant here. The details a character notices in a scene build up that character. There's a great bit in The Bourne Identity where he walks into a roadside diner and immediately identifies all the exits, which people might be dangerous in a fistfight, and which...

The underlying problem here is that situations where the readers know something the characters do not can get very tiresome. One imperfect approach I've seen is to essentially have an OOC lore chapter at the beginning or somewhere, and when a character learns that, then you link to it or expect...

Making the Grades was done by thosearemysecret. He is still around, but that one I know he is converting to an ebook series. You can dm him.

Marcus has three consecutive actions leading up to "bringing" and has his hand on Samuel's face. So as I read it he is clearly in control in the situation regardless of whose face moves. If the distinction has an impact in the story then I'd make it more explicit than that. IMO the issue is...

Similar to what TheLowKing said, I usually try to follow your rule - name both characters initially and only use pronouns for the last one who was the subject of a sentence. When the other one acts and becomes the subject, then the pronouns switch. Marcus saw Samuel at the party. [Marcus is the...

Is it possible to delete Thegodofreality's dipshit trolling off this Intro chapter? https://chyoa.com/story/Harem-Hotel.41411

I'm repeating it because you're acting like the thing that happened twice already is somehow unlikely to happen a third time. The first thing one sees when landing on CHYOA's homepage is 'Patreon pulled our funding, please sign up on SubscribeStar' SubscribeStar's Terms of Service...

That's literally what happened to the NonCon, Incest, and Mind Control categories. Friedman had to modify the site in multiple ways to avoid the payment processors yanking their funds. Considering there are forums on this site filled with deepfakes and stories specifically geared towards...

Friedman had to hide a bunch of story categories, add a word filter, and an account age filter just to satisfy payment processors about content that was legal. This law makes deepfakes criminal. The stakes are more significant.

I'm sure he would, but it makes posting those deepfakes into a federal crime, and you don't want to be providing a forum for that. Consider the headaches he had just from legal stories.

Just a heads up to Friedman and the other site admins that Congress passed a law recently that would require sites to pull down AI generated explicit deep fakes. https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/senate-bill/146/text/ih...

I don't remember the thought process to this username, but once I had it then a record seemed like a logical PFP

That's how the wishes work in Help, I am a Teenage Genie! https://chyoa.com/chapter/Introduction.535147 I do something similar in my Harem Hotel branch (see sig) but it happens rather well into the plot so it's not a core element of the story.

Brian seems like he's set up to be the villain - he summons a gorgeous dream woman who falls in love with his assistant? That's Mad Scientist origin story material. It seems like the natural progression is that Brian summons Doris, she falls for Nicole, and then Brian does the experiment again...

No, the best is when they start speculating about some forthcoming twist and it's way better than what you had planned. "Uhhhh...yes, dear reader... you have uncovered my genius plan."

Was it Freedonia? It's not explicitly African, but there is a branch plot with a reporter visiting.
