So I am sure plenty of people on this site are aware of the application Twine (https://twinery.org/) It is pretty great and as much as I love this site the user friendliness does come at the cost of features (A problem that I think is as old as time). There are some things that are just much easier to do with twine than on the site.RPG Mechanics are a big one but also being able to have randomness for certain things like dice. Along with not really being possible to have "hub" chapters that a reader can be brought back to multiple times. This is a dumb suggestions most likely, hell even as I am typing this I can think of a bunch of reasons why this might not be feasible, but it would be nice if there was a part of the site that let people post the things they make in Twine, either through direct hosting or download. Obviously I can think of one big reason this would not possible, mainly the cost of hosting the files, even though Twine games are small it would prob be a hog on bandwidth if it picked up or you had a large number of people putting games up. It really is just a pipe dream of a suggestions but the forum isn't called "100% practical suggestions"
There is a feature in review, which would allow processing variables with other variables (e.g. x=y+z/2) and also producing random numbers. I only took a quick look at twine and not sure about how it works exactly but I think, it wouldn't be easy to achieve compatibility to CHYOA. Aren't the twine-games plain HTML?
Mainly Twine is great for story mapping and just the general ease of making a more complex game, since you can organise threads in a more visual way. It is a little hard to explain until you use it, it also has nice shortcuts that let you make new chapters as you go. There is a lot to recommend it. Yeah, I don't see them as being brought in to Chyoa proper, more being a kind of offshoot where the system works slightly differently. So instead of having thumbs up and down people could write reviews with a 10 star rating. Still with the tag systems and other things like that, think of it more like a sort of newgrounds style deal. I don't mean having it so that someone could import a twine game and play it through the site the same as stories right now(Although that would be cool). I mean having them as another way to play games on the site. I don't feel like I am explaining myself very well. They are but you can have images embedded with them so you could easily have larger file sizes if someone decided to get image happy.
That would be similar to have another site of hosting twine games, wouldn't it? Size shouldn't be a problem for images. I suppose, that they are saved in a subfolder, so they could even be processed to shrink them to a reasonable size. (it should also be possible to resize base64 images) But I think, hosting images could easily lead to copyright issues and/or illegal submissions.
