A few questions (Do's and Don't's)?

Introduction bit (the actual questions are below):
Thank you, creators of CHYOO/CHYOA! This site is what I've been looking for for quite a while. For some reason it never showed up when I searched for accessible interactive fiction. (With that I mean, IF without the need for a compiler and lots of programmy bits.)

I had settled for finding text-roleplay partners to make a kind of collaborative instant response IF, which has always worked great for me (and my rp parters). Yum! One of my roleplay partners pointed me to his stories on here and that piqued my interest.

I also had been looking into making something with epubs (since the contents are basically html), but that didn't work for me either, so I stuck with linear (mostly non-erotic) stories. Over the past few years I had hoped someone would pick up something for IF that made it possible to read them on eBooks and other devices, yet strangely enough it hasn't happened yet. I would have thought it to be a logical step from linear books to interactive digital publishing. I'm glad that this site covers it without the need for an app.

My thoughts aside, I have been wondering about do's and don't's.
Yesterday morning I started to write offline and when I had enough to make a reasonable start I posted the starting point and several threads. I prefer to write offline since it's easier to edit (and in case my internet dies).
Over the course of yesterday I added threads and made reserved threads for the ones I worked on.

Is reserving a thread while you're writing it (on or offline) acceptable?
Are there other do's or don't's that are unwritten and that I should know about?

    Lisa,

If you're the editor of a story, my impression of the way things are done is that you should please yourself.

Being clear in the story description/notes about what you will or won't accept as contributions from collaborators is good practice.

If you're looking to recruit a number of contributors, you might choose to promote your story in the Chyoo forum and share your ideas.

I like how we don't need to "reserve" threads, because of the unlimited thread cap we have now. Now we can branch out based on each author's contributions! I like the notion that each writer will inherently have their own personal flair woven through their words.
