A Way to know when a Chapter was last updated.

Discussion in 'Site Feedback' started by AMagicalCampFan, Aug 29, 2022.

  1. As a reader, l think it would be great if a way to know how old a chapter is/ when lt was last updated was. Because the only way to tell a chapters age as of now is by seeing how old the comments are, and even then they're not guarantied to be accurate. (Ie, a 2 day old comment on a 2 Year old Chapter)
(Well, l guess you could also look on the profile of the one who posted the chapter and scroll in their "Chapters" list untill you find it, but that's too tedious.)

So, l propose adding a little "Published: X Hours/Days/Weeks/Months/Years Ago" near the bottom and or top of the page. For example, next to the "Chapter By: X" or the little area where the like and edit/report button is.

Edit: Ok, l just found out you can see the date a chapter was posted in the Story Map, but that doesn't invalidate my idea of adding a way to know how old the chapter is, on the chapter page.

Dude thank you! How long has this site been up? And still they never yet have placed in the most basic element. Of course a chapter should have a date to it, or 2 if it' sposted then later updated.

Wtf is even the point of telling me that kinky mess labyrinth#838 was updated only 2 minutes ago when I can only click on the story title then see a thousand chapters by a hundred authors who meld into each others' branches like a mountain river and have endless variations of
    Chapter 5.5, chapter 5.6
Other chapter 5.5, other chapter 5.6

Which by that point barely share an origin setting and main character, if that even.

Not trying to take away from the brilliance of the site, just pointing out what already does.

Actually, chapter numbers are unique within each story. Branch 1 will have chapter 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, etc. Branch 2 will have 5.2, 6.2, etc.

That doesn't take away from this suggestion, though, which I agree with.

This isn't true. The ID after the decimal place is local to the immediate parent of that chapter. 2.1 and 2.2 may each have a different pair of children called 3.1 and 3.2, so there will be two 3.1s and two 3.2s.
