Hi. I've been lurking and reading stories on CHYOA for a few years now, somehow never realized there was a forum until right now. Anyway, this is a suggestion regarding the notification system, something I've been dying for all the years I've been here. Because with the existing notifications I either get nothing useful or get spammed so much that it isn't worth using. Put simply add a notification option for favorited stories that have been updated - by which I mean, since the last time the user logged in, has the story had a chapter added to it? Then add a single notification for that story, but no more than that. You might say well there is already the option for favorited stories that have had a chapter added to them. Yes, but particularly on large and popular stories where many authors are adding chapters, you can wind up with 10+ notifications a day from each story. I currently have over 600 unread notifications on my account just from activating that one option and from having many favorites stories. The issue is it's really not usable! Not only are most of the notifications from branches of the story that are irrelevant to me, but the sheer spam makes it hard to even tell which story has been updated or not, because maybe 5+ pages of notifications can come from a single story that keeps having chapters added to it. No one wants to log in and spend 30+ minutes looking through notifications to see if that one specific story got updated or not. So in summary, it would be ideal if I could set up notifications so that I log in and see, say, 7 new notifications, I look at them and it is 7 separate stories I have in my favorites that have all been updated.
