For reasons best known to the Ordered/Anarchistic/Neutral deities that control the internet, GenericEditor168 has been unable to access the forums for about the past week for no readily apparent reason. Just thought everyone (else) ought to know that... (Change happened about the same time his tablet broke down and he got his computer fixed, in case that helps anyone straighten the problem out for him, he's kinda part of several games I play in on here that can't proceed without him, soooooo...)
Hello Nemo of Utopia. This is your friendly service desk. Thank you for reporting this issue. My name is Bob, and i am here to help you. Here on my screen it says that you have a problem with your computer. Or rather GenericEditor168 seems to have the problem, but you're there to help him, is that correct? That's correct, good. Well then, I congratulate you on your kindness, sir! Not many people are so helpful these days. And i'm sure that together we will have the problem fixed in no time! So let's begin with a few simple instructions and questions: Please make GenericEditor168 turn on his PC. To do this, have him press the power button. Did he press the power button? Make sure to give him enough time for his PC to properly boot up the operating system. This may take a few minutes. Take this time to get yourself a nice, tasty cup of coffee or another kind of hot beverage. This will surely help you relax, and a relaxed customer is a happy customer! Do you enjoy your beverage? Good! Now in case GenericEditor168's monitor screen stays black, have him turn on his monitor as well. And in case that should not work either, make him check that his power cord is connected. If that should already be the case, have him check his power strip, sometimes they have an easy to overlook illuminated power switch that needs to be turned on as well! Do i take you for a fool? No, sir, not at all! Trust me, I've seen it all, and i just want to make sure that we're not stumbling about some obvious and easy to solve issue. Sorry, Sir, could you repeat that last sentence? I didn't quite catch it. It almost sounded like "You ****ing *****, i **** know how to turn on a ****** PC you piece of ***** *****, you ******. The problem is, the ****** website is not ***** loading!!!" Oh, that is exactly would you said? I'm very, very sorry sir! Please accept my sincere apologies! I hope that you are still satisfied with our support service. Customer satisfaction is our number one priority! If you could be so kind, fill out this survey. It will help us improve our service and ensure that these kind of misunderstandings don't happen in the future. I should take my ****** survey and shove it up my **** ******? Please, sir! I urge you to calm down. I'm trying my best to help you to solve this very unfortunate issue! Did you get a hot beverage like i asked you to in the beginning? Because I have the impression that you aren't very relaxed at all. Take a deep breath, and we will have the problem fixed in no time! Oh, his PC has been turned on the whole time? Excellent! I am very happy to hear that! Good. Okay, lets double check. The problem you described was that "GenericEditor168 has been unable to access the forums for about the past week for no readily apparent reason." Is that still the case? Yes? Okay, lets work on that. Please tell him to reboot his PC. Do you require instructions on how to do that? Sir? Oh, the line is dead, he must have hung up. So i'm sure that the reboot must have fixed the problem. Excellent! Another satisfied customer! In all seriousness, I'm afraid that this description ("unable to access the forums") isn't very specific and could mean a number of things, ranging from a user error like typing in the wrong url or the wrong password, over faulty browser addons blocking access to the page, to network issues in the responsibility of the internet service provider. And the more information and details GenericEditor168 can provide about his problem, the more likely it is that we can identify the root cause of the problem and that we can help him to solve it. So please ask him to be more descriptive about his problem. What exactly happens, when he attempts to open https://forum.chyoa.com/ in his browser? What does he see? If there should be some kind of error message, what does it say?
I already told him to contact Friedman about the issue NOW two days ago, so hopefully, they're trying to work this out, but I figured since he hadn't come storming back through yet I should give everyone a heads up.
