Well, i have made a story on Chyoa, i get notifications about how people have liked/favorited/bookmarked my story but until now i still havent received a chapter someone wrote so i can approve, did i do something wrong or is it just so happens that the people who liked my story dont want to write in it? (I checked if the story is on private, it isnt)
Contributors are incredibly rare. Between the 4 stories I've published I've had 5 contributors write about 10 chapters (and that includes one person who's work I rejected). It's worth noting that readers would outweigh the amount of writer's on CHYOA, and many of those writers are likely busy working on their own projects.
Ben is right, I've maybe got two people who have ever tried to contribute; both of them didn't work out. The first one I got was so low effort it was practically just one paragraph.
I understand it could be a bit frustrating. You hope that some people would like your story enough that they would write a few chapters of their own in your story. If you invest some of your time writing other stories sometimes they will return the favor and write some chapters for you. Even this is not guaranteed. You should write for you and not in hope that others will invest some times writing for you.
I see, thank you all for your replies! Im sorry if i sound rude but does anyone know someone who would be willing to go over my chapters (because i do not speak english as a native language) to make sure stuff isnt weird?
Plot as well has something to do with it. I have one story, my first one actually from the old site, with very little plot that receives updates regularly from other writers though I haven't touched it in a decade. While my last story, and several since then and now, got plenty of likes but was plot heavy and no one has added anything.
Basically no one wants to add to someones else's story. Usually they want to go there own way with it; or basically make there own story if possible.
Basically this. I've had contributors for one of my old stories back when I didn't really know what I was doing, but...I feel like when you have contributions it also prevents you from really making a story the way you want. I enjoy seeing what other people do with things, but I also enjoy having creative control over my own projects. On top of that, while there's a few stories that I would want to add too, it makes me anxious when I think about putting the work in and risking it ending up rejected. I have to assume there's a number of people, most likely, new writers, who are a little afraid of rejection when they are starting out.
Even large estabilished stories can have years without contributions. Yours is one week old and has 6 chapters. There is no way someone will randomly stumble on your story and decide to develop the stpry together with you. Put yourself in this position, how much do you need to like the premise of a newborn story to write in it over your own?
