Ampersand symbols in external links are escaped

When I try to insert an external URL in a story (to credit the creator of an image I used), the & symbols in the URL are changed into &, breaking the link. This happens regardless of whether I use the # button or the [text](link) Markdown notation.

 

Have you tried to replace it with

Did now, no joy. It displays correctly as & when you hover over it, but leaves the URL broken, though differently than before:

 

Try using the Markdown syntax []() using the original link in both, brackets and parenthesis.

 

I was sceptical... but that works!

 

Yes, it's weird.
Might be a problem with the Markdown parser.
