Hey guys. I'd rather not make a game where you have to do a large amount of research to unerstand what's going on. This is a sex RP after all, so I'm going to post the important players and factions for you here, for reference and to help build your character. Nations: Poland: A proud Christian kingdom, for centuries Poland was ruled by the powerful Piast dynasty, which only recently died out with their last queen, Jadwiga. Poland was the scourge of the various pagan tribes in the east, bringing many of them over to Christianity through violence and clever marriage alliances. There stood one group of pagans that Poland was never able to defeat, however: The Lithuanians. Lithuania grew more and more powerful, and it became clear that Poland would need help to defeat it, so they called the Teutonic Order. Fresh from crusades in the holy land and in Hungary, the Teutonics eagerly accepted, establishing a state to the north of Poland and Lithuania. Soon, the Teutonic knights made it clear that they weren't interested in leaving. Ever. They began to take the territory not only of the Lithuanians, but the Polish too. Soon, it became clear that the only way to defeat their common enemy would be for Poland and Lithuania to unite. Grand Duke Jagiello of Lithuania converted to christianity, and married queen Jadwiga of Poland, becoming ruler of both nations. Though he now has a massive kingdom, many of the Polish nobles doubt the authenticity of Jagiello's conversion, and now that his Polish wife has died, it's uncertain whether he'll be able to keep both of his crowns. Leader: King Jagiello Religion: Roman Catholicism Culture: Polish Lithuania: Lithuania was once a small pagan tribe, amongst many in the region. Unlike the others, who were destroyed and crushed by their neighbours, Lithuania managed to survive, and grow in strength until it could challenge even mighty Poland to their west. Lithuania has been in a struggle against the Teutonic knights for centuries, fighting to keep their religion alive. Though the Grand Duke has converted to Christianity and urged his people to do the same, the worship of the old gods remains widespread in the country, an order of powerful magic using druids becoming a threat for Jagiello. Leader: Grand Duke Jagiello Religion: Roman Catholicism (officially)/Baltic Paganism (Majority) Culture: Lithuanian Teutonic Order: The Teutonic knights have a long history. Formed to fight in the crusades against the Islamic sultanates in the holy land, they eventually shifted to Europe after the failure of the middle eastern crusades. After a brief time in Hungary and Sweden, fighting the pagans there, they were invited to settle in the Baltic. Fighting against the Lithuanians, Teutonic ambitions soon shifted to complete domination of the region, and they began to attack their fellow Christians in Poland. The Teutonic knights come from many places across Europe, but are primarily German speaking, and have good relations with the Holy Roman Empire, who supports their conquest of Poland. The order elects its leader, the Hochmeister (Grand Master) from the most prominent members within its ranks. Currently, the order is led by Hochmeister Konrad, a skilled warrior, cunning leader, and powerful magic user. Under a leader so formidable, many wonder if the Order can be stopped. Leader: Hochmeister Konrad Von Juningen Religion: Roman Catholicism Culture: Mostly German Holy Roman Empire: The Holy Roman Empire is less of a nation, and more of a large collection of small states spread across Central Europe. A supporter of the Teutonic Order due to the fact that most of the Holy Roman Empire is German speaking, the same as the Teutonics, the Empire looks east to see if it can profit from the chaos in Poland. Elected by the most powerful leaders in Imperial lands, the Holy Roman Emperor is currently Wenceslas the Idle, King of Bohemia, but through poor leadership, it looks increasingly likely that he will soon be replaced. Leader: Wenceslas of Bohemia Religion: Roman Catholicism Culture: Mixed (German majority) Republic of Novgorod: The Republic of Novgorod is a nation unlike any other in the region. As a Republic, Novgorod elects its leader, The Prince, who shares power with the other elected officials, and the archbishop of Novgorod. The Republic is the largest of the Russian states to be independent from the rule of the Mongol Golden Horde, who dominate most of Russia. Leader: Elected government Religion: Orthodox Christianity Culture: Russian Grand Principality of Moscow: Another Russian state, the Grand Principality of Moscow is technically a vassal of the powerful Golden Horde, but recently its ruler, Prince Vasily the First, has been neglecting to pay the Mongols their tribute, and is making moves independently of their influence. It looks like confrontation between the two nations is inevitable. Leader: Prince Vasily Religion: Orthodox Christianity Culture: Russian Golden Horde The Golden Horde is a powerful Mongolian state that conquered their way into Russia over a century ago with their armies of horse archers, and shamanistic magic. Dominating the south of Russia, all Russian states besides the Republic of Novgorod owe the Horde fealty, paying them tribute in gold and manpower. The Horde has had a great deal of trouble recently, however. Their strength wanes as they fight off other nomadic tribes, and their realm has has been made unstable by the rise of different religions. The local Russians believe in the Christian God, the majority of the Mongol colonisers remain believers in Tengri, the Sky God of the Mongols, and the leadership of the Horde and much of the nobility have converted to Islam. Leader: Emir/Khan Edigu Relgion: Islam (Officially) Christianity and Tengrism (Majority) Culture: Mixed Russian, Middle Eastern and Mongol Kalmar Union: Founded by Queen Margaret the First of Denmark, The Kalmar Union consists of the three Scandinavian nations of Denmark, Norway and Sweden into a single entity large enough to contest the power of the Holy Roman Empire to the south. Though not directly interested in the affairs of Poland, Queen Margaret is not blind, and could very well intervene. Leader: Queen Margaret Religion: Roman Catholicism Culture: Scandinavian
All good stuff, though I don’t know about the use of actual historical figures, personally. I mean not like they have to be lewded if they’re there, though.
Religion/Magic: In this version of Europe, magic is something that a small percentage of the population is innately born with, and is tied strongly to the religion of a character, governing what types of magic a character is best able to use. A person of any religion can learn any type of magic, but they get a bonus when using magic associated with their religion. Types of Magic: Christian/Islamic Magic: Christians and Muslims excel in healing magic, and in spells to combat demonic creatures and monsters. Baltic Pagan Magic: Baltic Pagans are experts in harnessing nature to use as a weapon or tool, and can make use of the four classical elements: Earth, wind, water and fire. Wiccan Magic: The witches of Eastern Europe prefer to remain hidden in the deep forests of Lithuania. Either unjustly persecuted victims of ignorance, or vile heretics who seek the destruction of all things holy, depending on who you ask, witches are unmatched in using magical curses, charms and the forbidden art of nercromancy. Tengrist Magic: An ancient religion practiced by steppe nomads, the shamans of Tengri have great power over animals, able to make creatures obey them and join them in combat. They're even able to summon powerful mythological creatures like flying Pegasi and massive Mongolian Death Wyrms.
Demons and Monsters: Demons, the manifestations of Hell on Earth, and monsters, mutated perversions of nature, inhabit the lands of the East, and are too numerous in their different types to list outright. Some of the most common include: Demons: Succubi: Alluring, beautiful, and powerful, Succubi feed off the energy of mortals, by seducing and fornicating with them. They are capable of shape shifting, and can hypnotise those who aren't strong willed enough to resist. Succubi vary wildly in temperament, some being mostly harmless, taking only a fraction of a mortal's energy and repaying them with immensely pleasurable sex, while others despise humans, taking all of their energy until they're nothing but dessicated husks. There is also a male version of this demon, known as incubi. Imps: Short in stature, Imps are lesser demons that are generally cannon fodder in the armies of their betters, being weak. Imps do have the advantage of a powerful aphrodesiac injected by the stingers on their tails, that can drive humans temporarily wild with lust. Monsters: Verkaulak: Known in the west as werewolves, Verkaulak are human men and women cursed to transform into ferocious wolf creatures, with a ravenous apetite for violence and sex. For unknown reasons, Verkaulak despise demons, and will slaughter them at any opportunity. Rusalka: Much like succubi, Rusalka are beautiful creatures that seduce humans into joining them in their watery homes. Survivors of Rusalka attacks indicate that depending on the individual Rusalka, human captives can be used as a food source, as breeders, or as menial workers.
I have to be completely honest. I didn't even read this before coming up with my character. That is my bad. Sorry... I'll brush up on it when I get off work tonight.
