I feel it's time to resume progress on my main story, yet am frustrated with each idea that comes up. It's hard to tell where the problem is coming from because I have several bothersome issues on the periphery, but it seems harder and harder to write with an erotic bent. I still have a good sense of the characters and their motivations, and the situation I've dropped them in, but I can't see them continuing down a purely sex-oriented path. I mean, I guess it comes down to what I set up with the world I created, but is that ok? When you realise your story still has somewhere to go, but it isn't going to be quite as sexual, do you generally go on? I feel guilty about my readership. I'm on this erotica platform and my plot wants to go towards a non-erotic conclusion. At least one of my MCs is actively plotting to escape the hyper-sexual environment I put him in...

    I hear this.

If your characters have anything approaching more than one dimension, if you respect their integrity as a character, this can easily become a problem after some plot and time passes.

Don't have a solution. I've pushed a couple of my characters further than I should have, with no end in sight, for the sake of erotica. But, it's increasingly difficult to keep everything together, to have them remain as characters and not just compliant sex machines.

... Anyway, long story short, I feel your pain.

That is all perfectly okay. Write what feels correct. And, maybe sometime in the future, you'll want to branch away from that - explore the path not taken, where they embrace the sexual path, for good or ill. But just because it's CHYOA doesn't mean the adventure has to be erotic, or has to have an erotic ending. Emotional investment in the characters and plot are at least as important as the titillation. So write what you feel inspired to write - and if you ever feel like changing it up and adding more sex back in later, I'm sure no-one will complain!
