Hi. My entire story was wiped out while I was editing. The links to the other stories in the thread are still there but the entirety of the text is now completely blank. For god's sake please tell me there is a way to revert to a previous edit. The edit in question involved posting a piece of artwork I commissioned and a line of text giving credit to the author and a link to their twitter. I have no idea what went wrong but I am dead certain I was just saving the edit and the entire story was nuked. Please help.
Hey, Do you mean that the content of one chapter is gone? Is it this chapter? https://chyoa.com/chapter/Persona-5.787183
Follow up. THANK GOD FOR THE WAYBACK MACHINE. I have copied the original text to a word document and saved it to my hard drive. That's the good news. Here's the bad news- I tried to repost the the text, with the picture, and it did the exact same freaking thing it did the last time. It deleted all the writing and the picture and saved the blank chapter as the new edit. I made doubly sure not to delete any text or the like. What is going on? People have posted artwork to this site before. What's the issue?
That's the one. I was able to use the website "Wayback Machine" to find the original text, so that's no longer an issue thankfully. But the site really doesn't like it when I try to post that artwork or possibly the link to the original artist. I'll experiment a little.
That's good! Thanks for the follow-up! I assume that there is a special character (probably multibyte) in the content and that's why this happens. Can you send me the content?
I hopefully forwarded the email the artist sent me with the finished product. I say "hopefully" because writing.com was being weird about emailing you and took a couple tries before it didn't time out. Apologies if I accidentally sent it more than once.
The artist posted the same work to twitter if that helps. https://twitter.com/ReLLeRtheR/status/1727446415897461167
Thank you! I've now received the email. However, I can't reproduce the problem. Did you include the image as an image or as a link to an image hosting website? https://chyoa.com/chapter/How-to-add-a-picture-to-the-thread.251850
Not sure. The first time I used a snipping tool and clicked the 'copy' option it gave me. The second time clicked the image from Twitter and again hit 'copy image'. I tried pasting the image copied from both those sources, trying several times with each, and got the same results for both.
